Ethyl orthosilicate

Propionic ether 2-Ethylhexenal I-Ethoxypropane Ethyl orthosilicate... [Pg.488]

Silicate binders are used in conjunction with zinc powder to give paints of excellent corrosion resistance. The organo-silicates, e.g. ethyl orthosilicate, are most commonly used. The full potential of this type of binder has probably not yet been exploited. [Pg.585]

In this preparation the amount of ethyl orthoformate used is reduced to exactly one equivalent since it distils at 142-143°. For this particular acetal, it is preferable to use ethyl orthosilicate according to Helferich.3) Tiglylaldehyde diethyl acetal is formed in 79% yield b.p. 158-160° nd 1.419. [Pg.5]

Cs2.5 in water is hardly separable by filtration because of its very fine particle size. Cs2.5/Si02 prepared by the hydrolysis of ethyl orthosilicate in the presence of colloidal Cs2.5 is efficient for the hydrolysis of ethyl acetate, although it is less active than Amberlyst 15 (200). [Pg.170]

EUROTS-1 was synthesized (150g) by hydrothermal treatment of a gel derived from ethyl orthosilicate and ethyl orthotitanate, in the presence of tetrapropyl-ammonium hydroxide as template [31]. Each participating laboratory performed its own calcination (3 h or 16 h at a maximum temperature of 823 K, other conditions being varible). The Ti content was 2.8%, and the calcined product consisted of a single phase of orthorhombic symmetry, with a BET surface area of 435 m2g . Its IR and diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) have been recorded. The material had the form of small rounded cubes of about 0.15/im size. [Pg.516]

Planar diffusion into GaAs is performed from Sn-doped Si02 prepared by pyrolysis of a mixture of ethyl orthosilicate and either tetramethyltin or tetraethyltin . However, the inequality in vapor pressure of the two liquids in the bubbler causes large changes in composition with use. A more stable source uses Ar bubbled through tetramethyltin with SiH4 and O2 flowing in the tube . [Pg.198]

For washcoat preparation silicalite zeolite powder (S-115 from Union Carbide Corp.) was dried at 100°C in an oven overnight. Prehydrolyzed ethyl-orthosilicate containing 19.52 silica (Silbond H-5 from Stauffer Chemical Co.) was the source of the silica binder. Absolute ethanol (from U.S. Industrial Chemicals Co.) and absolute methanol (reagent grade from J. T. Baker Company) were used without further purification for the liquid portion of the washcoat slurry and for the methanol conversion reaction, respectively. Reagent grade ammonium nitrate (from J. T. Baker) was used for ion-exchange purposes. [Pg.494]

ETHYL ORTHOSILICATE (78-10-4) Forms explosive mixture with air (flash point 99°F/37°C). Reacts slowly with water, forming ethyl alcohol. Violent reaction with strong oxidizers. Incompatible with strong acids, nitrates. Attacks some plastics and rubber. [Pg.544]

There are many other methods of preparing active synthetic silica-alumina catalysts. A fair catalyst can be made by impregnating dried silica gel with an aluminum compound which is easily converted to the oxide by calcination, e.g., A1(NC>3)3. A preferred impregnation technique is to soak a sodium-free silica hydrogel in a solution of an aluminum salt and to follow this with an aqueous ammonia treatment to precipitate the hydrous alumina on the silica (Thomas, 16 Ryland and Tamele, 17). It should be noted that silica hydrogel can easily be freed of sodium ions by water washing, since it is not a zeolite. Exceptionally pure silica-alumina composites can also be prepared by the hydrolysis of mixtures of ethyl orthosilicate and aluminum alkoxides (Thomas, 18). [Pg.7]

An aldehyde or ketone (1 mole) is mixed with the requisite anhydrous alcohol (2-3 moles) and ethyl orthosilicate (1.1 moles) then 10 drops of saturated alcoholic hydrogen chloride are added or a few bubbles of gaseous hydrogen chloride are led in. The whole is then either set aside for some days or is boiled for some time under reflux. [Pg.384]
