Forming, explosive

S.K. Schiferl, Texture and Textural Evolution in Explosively Formed Jets, J. Appl. Phys. 66, 2637-2650(1989). [Pg.259]

An important area of work utilizing TEM involves the study of metals and mietal oxides.. Explosively formed or fractured metals are of special interest using this technique (Refs 35 46), as are studies of metallic smoke particles (Ref 17) and metallic stress phenomena (Ref 34)... [Pg.145]

Rosacea is a chronic disorder affecting the central parts of the face, characterized by flushing, persistent erythema and teleangectasia. Inflammatory papules and pustules can develop within the areas of erythema. Rosacea typically occurs in adults with fair skin and light eye and hair color. In contrast to acne, rosacea is not typically follicular in nature and comedones and seborrhea are usually absent. Pyoderma fa-dale is deemed to be an explosive form of rosacea, often occurring in young women with a phenotype typical of rosacea patients, often in the context of stress (Fig. 11.16). [Pg.121]

There is thought to be an explosive form of arsenic, possibly including a combination of unknown structure. This fomri is obtained when sulphuric acid, which is strongly charged with arsenic, is in contact with an iron container protected by a lead coating. It detonates on friction or impact. An analysis attempt did not indicate the presence of hydrogen. This case is similar to that of antimony. [Pg.210]

A brown explosive form is produced if excess sodium is used in preparation of thiophene homologues—possibly because of sulfur compounds [1], As normally produced, it is a dry stable solid, but material prepared from acetylene and sodium-oil dispersions ignites in air [2],... [Pg.375]

Explosive, formed on prolonged contact of nitrogen triiodide with water. [Pg.1561]

May form explosive mixtures when contacting organic material. b Explosive formed. f Slow in drying action. d H2 formed. Used as column drying of organic liquids. J Strong reductant. [Pg.1351]

Chemical/Physical. Oxidation in air yields acetic acid (Windholz et ah, 1983). In the presence of sulfuric, hydrochloric, or phosphoric acids, polymerizes explosively forming trimeric paraldehyde (Huntress and Mulliken, 1941 Patnaik, 1992). In an aqueous solution at 25 °C, acetaldehyde is partially hydrated, i.e., 0.60 expressed as a mole fraction, forming a gem-diol (Bell and McDougall, 1960). Acetaldehyde decomposes at temperatures greater than 400 °C, forming carbon monoxide and methane (Patnaik, 1992). [Pg.56]

From the practical point of view, extreme interest was attached to explosions in soils, rocks, and metals. The findings have been applied in the use of expls for rock excavation deep drilling, explosion forming, explosion welding, and so on... [Pg.172]

HMX Octagen, a high explosive formed as a by-product during the manufacture of RDX. [Pg.194]

Explosive Fabrication of Metals. This term includes explosive forming, -forging, —sizing -welding, —compaction, and -conditioning. [Pg.288]

Very important work, beginning prior to 1958, was done at the National Northern Plant, West Hanover, Mass under the direction of Philipchuk (Refs 4 8i 7). There were manufd small and large parts for aeroplanes and jet-motors. For example, the jet-motor housing shown in Fig Exll was explosively formed... [Pg.289]

Explosive extrusion has been investigated by the Air Materiel Command of the US Air Force but it is not described in Ref 7 Explosive welding, mentioned in Ref 7, pp 3 5 is described as a separate item Explosive forming is used for manuf parts which cannot be made by other methods (See also Explosive Metallurgy Explosive Metalworking, High-Velocity Explosive Press and Explosive Welding)... [Pg.291]

Explosive Forming of Metals in National Northern , APStCC, August 1958 4a) Anon,... [Pg.291]

G.R.Cowan, Ordn 50, 536 March St Apr 1966 (Explosive Forming) 13)J.Pearson, NAVORD... [Pg.291]

Explosive Forming. See under Explosive Fabrication of metals... [Pg.292]

There was also developed patented by De Ment (Ref 10) a tellurian (underground) explotron for close-in treatment of an ir-radiable target by explosion-formed electro-... [Pg.366]

In addn to the above common metallic form (rhombohedral crysts), Sb also exists in yel-loujjblack and the so-called explosive forms. [Pg.467]
