Entry station

A sample of specified weight is normally required in the procedure. An interactive form of weighing is used, in which the display or printing unit of the entry station indicates whether or not the sample has been accepted. Before analysis it is necessary to specify the code number of the analytical method that is to be used, and to store this in the memory of the central control. To indicate where samples are located, it is necessary to identify them before weighing. Optical readers are therefore mounted on the sample-transport mechanism to register each sample. The sample is identified by a unique code placed on the outside of the sample cup. [Pg.43]

Develop Alternative Order Entry Channels Provide alternative channels for order entry to reach a wider customer base Create global order entry stations to allow customers to place orders around the clock Deploy Internet-based order entry technologies that allow for configuration checks and supplier links Consider scanning technology for an easy, low-cost order entry alternative ... [Pg.118]

Where there are stray currents, the switching method described in Section 3.3.1 cannot be used. Stray current protection stations are usually installed where the pipeline has the most positive pipe/soil potential. When the stray current drainage is cut off, a too-positive stray current exit potential that is not 7/ -free is quickly established. In distant areas a too-negative stray current entry potential that is not 71 -free will be measured. The determination of the 71 -free pipe/soil potential is only possible in stray current areas when the origin of the stray current is not oper-... [Pg.101]

Very positive tramway rails can produce such a negative pipe/soil potential by high stray current entry that it becomes more negative than the imposed nominal potential. The protection current device must be designed so that in this case the dc output is controlled at zero. If no further protection stations are installed on the pipeline, the protection current device must be arranged so that an imposed minimum protection current is not undercut. [Pg.362]

A space station design that requires less space walk time is inherently safer than a design that requires more. If the astronauts don t need to go outside, they have less risk. For chemical plants, designs or operating regimes that reduce or eliminate vessel entries are inherently safer. [Pg.101]

These devices are tested only for internal explosions and not for external explosions pressurizing the devices from the outside. As an example, a factory-sealed push-button start/stop station connected to an explosion-proof motor starter cannot suffice as a seal for the motor starter conduit entry. A separate seal must be installed at the point of conduit entry. [Pg.540]

Portable weather stations are useful to have available at the field laboratory for acquiring weather data during the course of the worker exposure/re-entry study. There are a variety of portable weather stations available from a variety of suppliers. Weather data to be collected are rainfall, wind direction, wind speed, air temperature, and relative humidity. These electronic weather stations will record the necessary weather parameters on a routine basis. The data are stored and can be transferred to a laptop computer or disk as desired by the Field Scientist. Such portable electronic weather stations are useful during the course of the dislodgeable residue portion of a worker re-entry study when dislodgeable residue samples are taken from remote test sites over the course of a 30-day period. [Pg.994]

All equipment to be used at the field site should be calibrated at or near the field laboratory or field site prior to the application of the test substance (pesticide product). Most weather equipment will have been calibrated at the manufacturer and can be checked for functionality prior to the worker exposure/re-entry test by comparing weather readings from the nearest airport or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) weather reporting station with the weather readings compiled by the portable weather station. Hand-held weather instmments could also be checked with current weather reading from local airports or NOAA facilities. [Pg.994]

The authors wish to express their sincere appreciation to staff members of the Thermodynamics Research Center (TRC), part of the Chemical Engineering Division of the Texas Engineering Experiment Station in The Texas A M University System. Our special thanks to Munaf Chasmawala and Cheryl Clark for their assistance in data collection and entry, formatting the text, preparing the graphs, and composing the camera-ready copy of the manuscript. [Pg.5]

Stations should be separated physically to prevent cross-contamination and should be arranged in order of decreasing contamination, preferably in a straight line. Separate flow patterns and stations should be provided to isolate workers from different contamination zones containing incompatible wastes. Entry and exit points should be conspicuously marked, and the entry to the CRZ from the exclusion zone should be separate from the entry to the exclusion zone from the CRZ. Dressing stations for entry to the CRZ should be separate from redressing areas for exit from the CRZ. Personnel who wish to enter clean areas of the decontamination facility, such as locker rooms, should be completely decontaminated. [Pg.661]

A fragrance company in Japan conducted tests in an attempt to determine the effects of smell on people. They pumped different fragrances into an area where a number of keyboard entry operators were stationed and monitored the frequency of mistakes the workers made. The results showed that pleasant odors like jasmine and lavender were associated with significant reductions in errors. [Pg.99]

This chapter provides a survey of the episodic peak ozone levels across Europe over the 1980-2009 period as recorded by the EMEP ozone monitoring network. The database of annual highest 8-h average ozone levels contains over 2,291 entries for 178 monitoring stations. All monitoring stations in almost all years show exceedance of the WHO air quality guideline of 50 ppb daily maximum 8-h average ozone level. [Pg.70]

Of course price and convenience can be a very important factor in the choice of a program to calculate log Poct. Availability on one s computer — e.g. UNIX workstation, VAX station, or the popular desktops, Macintosh or Windows for P.C. — can be the deciding factor. The ability to import structural files in a format that can be handled in batch mode may be a critical need for some. Entry by either name or CAS number might be necessary to others. Providing pKas or tautomeric forms may be very attractive to still others. The manner in which structures are displayed may be a factor. [Pg.131]
