Electronics quality processing

Recently, an interesting correlation between the laser pulse polarization and the ellipticity of the electron beam profile has been observed [71]. However, no major influence of laser polarization on the efficiency of the electron acceleration processes has been observed so far, nor this influence has been predicted by theory and simulations, differently from the proton acceleration. For proton acceleration, a great improvement on bunch charge and quality are expected by using circularly polarized laser pulses focused on thin foils at ultra-high intensities [72-74]. [Pg.153]

Other instruments for evaluation of electron beam process are real-time monitors. They provide a continuous display in real time of dose delivered to product, as well as the energy of the electron beam. Moreover, they can show the variations in dose across a wide web if multiple detectors are installed and provide alarm signals to warn the operator of high- and low-dose conditions, and record the performance of the processor for production control, quality assurance, and maintenance needs. The major advantage of these real-time instruments is that they monitor the current and beam energy independently. ... [Pg.220]

Many of the quality improvement goals for implementation of PAT in the pharmaceutical industry have been achieved by companies in other industries, such as automobile production and consumer electronics, as a direct result of adopting principles of quality management. The lineage of modern quality management can be traced to the work of Walter Shewhart, a statistician for Bell Laboratories in the mid-1920s [17]. His observation that statistical analysis of the dimensions of industrial products over time could be used to control the quality of production laid the foundation for modern control charts. Shewhart is considered to be the father of statistical process control (SPC) his work provides the first evidence of the transition from product quality (by inspection) to the concept of quality processes [18,19]. [Pg.316]

The high-energy electron beam process is pH independent in the range of 3 to 11 therefore, any changes in pH over time will not adversely affect the treatment efficiency. If necessary, a lowering of pH can be done as a pretreatment to remove alkalinity, which may contain OH scavengers such as bicar-bonic and carbonic ions in natural waters. Because water quality is important, pretreatment may decrease operation cost. [Pg.499]

Land disturbance and exposure of buried geologic strata to the open environment leads to sulfide oxidation (if present) and, as a consequence, water-quality degradation of runoff. For water-quality-control purposes, sedimentation ponds required by law are used as water treatment basins. Often, the pH of such basin waters is below 6, and the concentration of heavy metals is above acceptable levels. Water treatments include neutralization and removal of heavy metals as precipitates. Similar water-quality problems arise from other industrial sources, including heavy steel industries, electronics, food processing, mineral processing, and waste-disposal leachates. This portion of the chapter deals with some of the chemical agents used for neutralization purposes and some of their limitations. [Pg.456]

An example system is PVC and polyethylene wire and cabling irradiated to improve stresscracking resistance, abrasion resistance, high-temperature properties and flame retardance, via controlled electron-beam crosslinking (Loan, 1977). Additionally electron-beam crosslinking is utilized to impart memory into a polymer system, such as crosslinked PE materials for heat-shrinkable films and pipe applications (Baird, 1977). The control of electron-beam processing has advanced the quality of cell size and shape of PE foams via control of crosslink distribution (Paterson, 1984). [Pg.419]

The responsibilities of key personnel described in the Guide are not changed by the use of computers, and it is essential that there is the closest co-operation between Production, Quality Control and Electronic Data Processing Departments. [Pg.630]

Earlier work was carried out with crystalline bulk InP samples prepared by the gradient freeze method [274]. As In could become scarce due to its present use in electronics [275], the use of bulk material appears too expensive for appHcations. Therefore, homoepitaxial thin films have been prepared on InP wafers which can be removed by estabhshed Hft-off techniques [276]. The preparation by MOVPE allows scaling up and fine tuning of the growth process, enabhng fabrication of films with high electronic quality [277]. Besides the hitherto used (111) A-face (see Section 2.4.2.1), the surprisingly stable In-rich (100) surface is considered here. [Pg.165]

Electronic data processing has seen increased use in all industrial fields in recent years. In the plastics industry in particular, quality demands are being raised continuously, while the product cycle and supply times grow shorter and shorter. The required level of flexibility in terms of market demands should be reached by introduction of suitable computer-aided engineering (CAE) concepts. Efficient... [Pg.350]
