Electronic options controlling

Set this threshold to a small positive constant (the default value is 10" ° Hartree). This threshold is used by HyperChem to ignore all two-electron repulsion integrals with an absolute value less than this value. This option controls the performance of the SCF iterations and the accuracy of the wave function and energies since it can decrease the number of calculated two-electron integrals. [Pg.113]

The Computer. AXIS is written in FORTRAN and runs on a GEC 4000 series multi-user mini computer equipped with a Graphics Option Controller (GOC) model 5250, manufactured by Sigma Electronic Systems Ltd. This device converts an alphanumeric visual display unit into a graphics terminal, allowing independent use of the alphanumeric and graphics screens. In addition, it provides cursor handling facilities and the ability to selectively erase part of the screen. All of these features are utilised by AXIS. [Pg.115]

Electronic options for Li-ion batteries include the basic functions of monitoring, measuring, calculating, communicating, and controlling the cells in a battery pack. In practice, the battery pack may vary in size both physically and by the number of cells, but each will utilize some of the same electronic functions required to protect the cells and/or ensure their performance in the device. [Pg.362]

The basic functions of monitoring, measuring, calculating, communicating and controlling are a representation of electronic options to enhance the safety and maintain the performance of a collection of cells in a battery pack. Although these functions can he applied to any battery, they are not all required in any particular battery-powered device (Figure 16.1). [Pg.362]

As discussed, there are various electronic options that can be employed with Li-ion cells as they are constructed in to battery packs. The functions of measuring, monitoring, calculating, communicating, and controlling still apply from single-cell Li-ion smartphones to large battery arrays of kWh size. [Pg.384]

The Imass Dynastat (283) is a mechanical spectrometer noted for its rapid response, stable electronics, and exact control over long periods of time. It is capable of making both transient experiments (creep and stress relaxation) and dynamic frequency sweeps with specimen geometries that include tension-compression, three-point flexure, and sandwich shear. The frequency range is 0.01—100 H2 (0.1—200 H2 optional), the temperature range is —150 to 250°C (extendable to 380°C), and the modulus range is 10" —10 Pa. [Pg.199]

Engine speed is controlled by the use of variable-speed governors that can be mechanical, mechanical-hydraulic or electronic. The last option is gaining wide acceptance for generation purposes due to its speed of response and ready integration with other control equipment used in fully automated installations (probably incorporating more than one generating unit). [Pg.198]

The first draft of the new requirement had draconian security requirements, softened (as is common) after a comment period Demands for biometric identifiers were replaced with password control options. But the revised final regulation was still broad in scope and necessitated extensive documentation and testing for all systems used in the industry (with even stronger controls if the user opted for electronic signatures). [Pg.634]

The second option considered was use of interception wells. One- or two-pump wells could be constructed at calculated spacings to create a hydraulic trough parallel to the canal to intercept the product. This design was considered more acceptable to the safety officer and the facility engineer, but was rejected by the maintenance foreperson because of the relative complexity of the operation system. The number of submersible pumps and sophisticated electronic controls would have required employment (or training) of technical specialists beyond the cost budgeted under normal operations. [Pg.367]

The second stage of this approach is the evaluation of the reaction. This step is the most crucial one in our program, as well as in all other programs of computer-assisted synthesis (16a-16d). The evaluation by the computer is optional. If it is not desirable, the computer proceeds to the generation of all formal possibilities, otherwise the control passes to the EVALUATION module, which discards some solutions. The evaluation is based on the perception of various features of the catalyst and on some rules that we have introduced. These rules concern the two classes of two-electron reactions which will be presented in Section III. The first one contains key reactions of... [Pg.173]

Small lithium batteries are commonly used in small, portable electronic devices such as watches, thermometers, calculators, etc., as backup batteries in computers and communication equipment, and in remote-control car locks. They are available in many shapes and sizes, with the common variety being a 3-volt coin -type manganese battery, 20 mm in diameter and 1.6-4 mm thick. The heavy electrical demands of many of these devices make lithium batteries a particularly attractive option. In particular, lithium batteries can easily support the brief and heavy current demands of devices such as digital cameras. They also maintain a higher voltage for a longer period than alkaline cells. [Pg.407]
