The effect of levocetirizine 5 mg/day on actual driving performance during normal traffic has been compared with the effect of the first-generation antihistamine diphenhydramine 50 mg/day in 48 healthy volunteers in a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized trial (73). Treatments were given on days 1, 2, 3, and 4, at 90 minutes before the start of a standardized driving test on days 1 and 4. In contrast to diphenhydramine, driving performance was not significantly affected by levocetirizine 5 mg/day.

Driving tests do not adequately examine a person s driving ability. Usually the person being tested does not have to drive very far. The test does not require the skills that are used in everyday driving situations. Supervisors of driving tests tend to be very lenient.

The operation of warmed-up automotive three-way catalysts is considered. Special emphasis is given to the observation that significant fractions of CO, hydrocarbon, and NO emissions in urban driving tests occur during vehicle acceleration. Concentrations of exhaust components were digitized and recorded by computer every 0.5 seconds during each driving test. In addition, other data such as vehicle speed, throttle position, and fuel consumption rate also were recorded every 0.5 seconds. All data recorded were electronically loaded into a computerized relational data base program. This program allowed computations (e.g., of A/F and exhaust flow rate), logical searches and classification of data (e.g., selection of all periods where the A/F and the acceleration were within specified limits), and plotting of results to be performed quickly and easily. 

The test project will include the evaluation of exhaust emissions, engine performance, engine reliability, and vehicle performance. During Phase I, exhaust emissions were verified using a steady-state simulation of the Federal Driving Test. For Phase II of the project, emissions will be verified by a vehicle... 

Emissions, power, torque, and efficiency goals have been met. NO emissions have been reduced by a factor of 20 when compared to the existing engine without a loss of power, torque characteristics, or fuel efficiency. Major milestones for the remainder of the project will be to demonstrate drivability in an operating bus and verily exhaust emissions in a driving test. 

Several studies have found that cannabis and alcohol produce additive detrimental effects on driving performance, but other studies have failed to show any potentiation. This is probably due to the variety of simulated driving tests used and possibly the time lag between the administration of alcohol and cannabis behavioural impairment after cannabis has been reported to peak within 30 minutes of smoking. Nevertheless, both drugs have been shown to affect some aspects of driving performance and increase the risk of fatal car accidents. Concurrent use of cannabis and alcohol before driving should therefore be avoided. 

A double-blind, crossover study in 20 healthy subjects given various combinations of alcohol and either doxepin or a placebo found that with blood-alcohol levels of 40 to 50 mg% their choice reaction test times were prolonged and the number of mistakes increased. Coordination was obviously impaired after 7 days of treatment with doxepin, but not after 14 days. In an earlier study doxepin appeared to cancel out the deleterious eftects of alcohol on the performance of a simulated driving test. It appears that doxepin may be more toxic when given with alcohol and it has been suggested that a less dangerous alternative could be chosen when indications of alcohol abuse or suicide risk are present. ...

This section, 383.23 Commercial driver s license, is pretty basic. It says you must pass the required written and driving tests and obtain a CDL before you can operate a CMV.

The driving cycles used for Japan and Europe are different from the 1975 FTP. A comparison of these cycles is shown in the literature (14). The European community has revised its test procedure to include a cold start portion. The new driving test starts collecting emission samples immediately after the vehicle key is turned on. This will increase the emphasis on cold start emissions. In addition, the Japanese driving cycle has been revised to reflect a more stringent test cycle.
