Drive Types. Variable-speed drives may be selected on a chain-strength basis when operating with infrequent high chain loads such as from a torque convener, variable-speed motor, or multispeed transmission. 

Most screw compressors are of the oil-lubricated type. There are two types—the semihermetic and the open-drive type. In the former, the motor is located in the same housing as the compressor, while in the latter the motor is located outside of the compressor housing and thus requires a shaft seal. The only moving parts in screw compressors are two intermeshing helical rotors. The rotors consist of one male lobe, which functions as a rolling piston, and a female flute, which acts as a cylinder. Since rotary screw compression is a continuous positive-displacement process, no surges are created in the system.

Plot the power-input curve GHK for a two-speed drive, type b. This drive might be a motor with an additional winding, or it might be a second motor for use at reduced boiler capacities. With either arrangement, the fan speed at lower boiler capacities is 900 r/min. 

Phoenix Technologies Phoenix Technologies was the pioneer who developed BIOS in the first place. Their BIOS software supports user-defined hard drive types and 1.44MB floppy disk drives. 

CMOS CMOS is a special kind of memory that holds the BIOS configuration settings. CMOS memory is powered by a small battery so the settings are retained when the computer is shut off. The BIOS will read information like which hard drive types are configured for this computer to use and which drive(s) it should search for boot sectors and so on. CMOS memory is usually NOT upgradable. 

In addition to the cable position, you must also set the drive type and size of the floppy drive in the CMOS setup. This is done so that the computer will know what drives are attached. If this information is wrong, most computers will detect that the wrong drive type is selected and an error will occur during bootup. 

Disk Management Known as Disk Administrator in Windows NT 4, Disk Management is Windows 2000 s replacement for FDISK. You can use it to create or delete partitions and even modify drive types. 

The vacuum pumps initially used in freeze-dryers were of the belt-drive type and, as such, extremely bulky and noisy by current standards. At present, most research-scale freeze-dryers use direct-drive pumps, which are much quieter than the previous models and also, frequently, very small. Because they are constructed from corrosion-proof materials, they are highly flexible in operation. 

The fraction of oil-in-place recoverable from conventional petroleum reservoirs varies greatly with the reservoir type, oil viscosity, formation pressure, production rate, and finesse employed. The positive displacement aspect of water drive reservoirs generally gives them the highest ultimate petroleum recoveries, up to 70% of the oil-in-place [14]. Estimates of ultimate recoveries possible from gas cap drive and dissolved gas drive types of reservoirs are usually much lower, 25-50% for the former and 10-30% for the latter. Recovery from gravity drainage reservoirs will be at the lower end of the ranges of the two gas drive reservoir types.
