Double thickness

In the United States tubular knitted fabric is dyed by the pad-batch method for oudets where the edge mark formed as the double thickness tube passes through the padder is accepted. In Europe it is usual to sHt tubular knitted fabric before padding in order to avoid any edge marks. [Pg.356]

The first recommended soil method for oxime carbamates is the method of Honing et al. by HPLC/MS. The LOQ of the method, specifically for aldicarb, methomyl, and oxamyl, is 0.05mgkg. Soil (lOg) is Soxhlet extracted for 16h with acetone-dichloromethane (1 1) using double-thickness cellulose extraction thimbles (80 X 22-mm i.d.). Prior to extraction, the Soxhlet system and the thimbles are cleaned for 14 h by refluxing with methanol. The extracts are removed and concentrated nearly to dryness in a rotary evaporator operating at 35 °C evaporation to dryness... [Pg.1158]

The cured polymer samples used for physical property testing were prepared by photocuring 12 mil thick sheets of degassed and photosensitized monomer mixtures, using a mold composed of glass plates lined with polyester film and separated by a double thickness of vinyl electrical tape. A GE sunlamp was used for Illumination, and Darocure 1173 (E. Merck) was used as the photoinitiator. Hydrocarbon monomers were used as received from the manufacturers. All the vinyl group-containing compounds were stored at -5°C until use. [Pg.40]

To demonstrate film-forming properties of the latex, prepare a drawdown bar by adhering a double thickness of adhesive tape to each end of a glass rod. [Pg.42]

The outcome of such calculations is shown graphically in Figure 6. Obviously this diagram is not only hypothetical but also schematical, and subject to qualifications and corrections. As it stands, it suggests that what we call the valine cell has a double-thickness wall and a double-thickness membrane, and is one third bigger than the exponential cell. On the other hand, the threonine cell is one third smaller than the exponential cell and it has a single-thickness membrane and a double-thickness wall. [Pg.150]

Water-Soluble Substances Suspend 4.0 g of sample in 50 mL of water, mix, and allow to stand overnight. Transfer the suspension to a 200-mL volumetric flask add 2 mL of ammonium chloride TS, and mix. If the sample does not settle, add another 2-mL portion of ammonium chloride TS, then allow the suspension to settle, dilute to volume with water, and mix. Filter the suspension through a double thickness of filter paper, discarding the first 10 mL of filtrate, and collect 100 mL of the subsequent clear filtrate. Transfer the filtrate into a tared platinum dish, evaporate on a hot plate to dryness, and ignite at a dull red heat to constant weight. Calculate the percent water-soluble substances by the formula... [Pg.478]

A completely different behaviour exhibit NBF from NaDoS solutions. They do not change their thickness with pa and Cei alterations. However, their properties depend on the composition of the initial surfactant solution (see 0(Cei) and ta(Cei) dependences in Section 3.4.1.1). The thickness of NBF determined from h(Cei) dependence is approximately equal to the doubled thickness of the adsorption layer as assumed by Perrin [318]. This is confirmed by NBF obtained from other surfactants. It should be bom in mind that the interferometric technique employed to measure film thickness gives directly the optical difference in the path of the beams reflected by the two film surfaces. When the thickness is calculated from optical measurements a refractive coefficient, being a function of film structure, should be chosen (see Sections 2.1.3 and 3.4.1). [Pg.216]

Fig. 3.75 depicts a stepwise P(h) isotherm of system I. This is a summarised isotherm drawn from a number of measurements [358] performed in the two variants A and C of the measuring cell (see Fig. 2.3, Chapter 2). Variant A allows film formation at constant capillary pressure and observation of spontaneous film thickness transitions, i.e. stratified films at pc = const. At 4.5-103 Pa pressure, the film acquired thickness approximately equal to the doubled thickness of two surfactant monolayers, i.e. a bilayer film. Subsequent increase in pressure up to 104 Pa (variant C) did not affect the thickness, which is a good reason to consider this film as being at thermodynamic equilibrium. The deep red mixture is transferred to a 50-ml. beaker, using a minimum volume (15 to 20 ml.) of hot 1 N hydrochloric acid to rinse the last traces from the boat and tube. After being gently heated and stirred until all soluble material has dissolved, the hot burgundy-colored mixture is quantitatively transferred through a double thickness of Whatman no. 42 filter paperf into a 100-ml. beaker with the aid of a minimum volume (about 10 ml. in 2-ml. portions) of hot 1 N hydrochloric acid. [Pg.220]

The bubble and the particle differ from each other not only in the potential of their surfaces but also in their behaviour, which may drastically change the arising interaction. The simplest situation is where the potential of the particle surface and the charge density of the bubble surface do not depend on the interlayer thickness. In the particular case where this change is zero, Frumkin Gorodetskaja (1938) and Langmuir (1938) showed that electrostatic repulsion results, which is exactly equal to the repulsion of two identical particles at the double thickness of the interlayer. [Pg.372]

An optimal hand-hold cutout has the following approximate characteristics a 1.5 in (3.8 cm) height, 4.5 in (11.5 cm) length, semioval shape, a 2 in (5 cm) clearance, smooth nonslip surface, and a 0.25 in (0.60 cm) container thickness (e.g., double-thickness cardboard). [Pg.1078]

In this section we eonsider a doublet consisting of dro plets with a nonionic adsorption layer. The closest separation between two droplet surfaces hQexceeds the double thickness of file adsorption layer (2hg). As a crude approximation Eq can be identified with 2h. In the case of small surfactant molecules 2hg 2 nm. [Pg.82]

In most load-bearing medical applications, however, warp-knitted structures, which include both weaving and knitting features, will generally be preferred. Specially constructed Raschel machines that have two needle bars and several guide bars are commonly used. The two needle bars, working alternately, contribute to the versatility of the products. The basic principle is that each needle bar produces a flat fabric the two fabrics are simultaneously connected to each other to form a three-dimensional structure. Examples of structures that can be produced are a double-sided, double thickness structure two separate fabrics with different structures and yarns, joined as needed tubular structure, straight or tapered, and with branches and a sandwich or a spacer fabric with filler yarns. [Pg.83]
