Materials that promote the decomposition of organic hydroperoxide to form stable products rather than chain-initiating free radicals are known as peroxide decomposers. Amongst the materials that function in this way may be included a number of mercaptans, sulphonic acids, zinc dialkylthiophosphate and zinc dimethyldithiocarbamate. There is also evidence that some of the phenol and aryl amine chain-breaking antioxidants may function in addition by this mechanism. In saturated hydrocarbon polymers diauryl thiodipropionate has achieved a preeminent position as a peroxide decomposer. [Pg.140]

The lead-210 labelled chlorotrimethylplumbane was prepared by adding HC1 to the tetramethyllead-210 at 0 °C. The crude product was treated with the complexometric agent dimethyldithiocarbamate and the trimethyllead-210-DMDTC complex was purified by preparative TLC. Wastewater treatment facilities often use dithiocarbamates (DTCs) to remove heavy-metal contaminants (down to ppb levels) as DTCs form stable complexes with a wide variety of transition metals. We therefore investigated the ability of three commercially available DTCs to remove Cu from our process stream sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate (NaDMDTC, 129), sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (NaDEDTC, 130) and ammonium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (APDTC, 131).
