Design Versions

The constructive rules for high-pressure components and especially for those under dynamic stress are as follows as few notches as possible (cross bores, steps, and edges), smooth surface, ductile materials, and pressure-loaded chambers as small as possible. The figures as described in the following show examples of high-pressure machines that were put into practice.

Many reference electrodes do not fall into any of the categories described above. For many field applications simple electrode materials are currently used as references. A typical example is simply a piece of metal immersed in the test solution. Reference electrodes of this kind are treated generally in Chapter 2.8. The specially designed versions for concrete applications are described in Chapters 3.1.4 (lead), 3.1.5 (graphite) and 3.1.6 (MMO). 

Rotaflam mulfifuel burners are available for all con-venfional fuels (i.e., pulverized coal, nafural gas, and any kind of FIFO). Fuel combusfion proporfions are achievable within a flexible capacity range up to 100%. In a special design version, the same type of burner uses a wide variety of solid and liquid waste fuels to substitute the conventional fuels (Figure 31.12).

The tests have been conducted for updated versions of valves in startup and trip modes of pump. The optimum design version of the valve has been chosen. 

No problems exist with substitution of power plutonium with weapons grade plutonium in the BN-800 core conditions. In this case, the traditional core (design version) may transform 1640 kg of weapons grade plutonium per year to a spent fuel standard, burning and producing 140 kg Pu/year.

The OCV of 3.66 V per cell enables CCV values of 2.8 to 3.6 V, depending on design and load. With various design versions these cells may be operated between — 55°C and more than +150 °C.

Note that the fault tree on the left separates the faults due to feed water failures from those due to the transmitter failure. No protection is provided against transmitter failure, which will cause a low level condition through its action on the level control loop LIC-1. Hence the boiler damage rate will be high compared with the correctly designed version on the right-hand side.
