Typically, only a few commercial soft glass items may work their way into a research lab. Such items as student ware graduated cylinders or burettes are readily identifiable, and since these items shouldn t be heated, are unlikely to cause damage. Tests are available to mea.sure the amount of uranium in a urine or. stool sample. Hospitals do not perform these tests routinely. These tests are useful if a person is exposed to a large amount of uranium, because most uranium leaves the body in the feces within a tew days after ingestion. However, the amount of uranium in the urine and feces does not always accurately show the level of uranium to which you may have been exposed. When used in herbicide formulas, low solvent phytotoxicity is important to avoid crop damage.
