Because the heat distortion temperature of cured epoxy resins (qv) increases with the functionality of the curing agents, pyromellitic dianhydride is used to cross-link epoxy resins for elevated temperature service. The dianhydride may be added as a dispersion of micropulverized powder in liquid epoxy resin or as a glycol adduct (158). Such epoxies may be used as an insulating layer in printed circuit boards to improve heat resistance (159). Other uses include inhibition of corrosion (160,161), hot melt traffic paints (162), azo pigments (163), adhesives (164), and photoresist compounds (165). [Pg.500]

The second catalyst paste of the two-paste product is a curing agent. A wide variety of materials convert the Hquid polysulfide polymers to elastomeric products. Alkalies, sulfur, metallic oxides, metallic peroxides, organic peroxides, and many metal—organic salts, ie, paint driers, are all potential curing agents. [Pg.492]

Aliphatic polyamines, amine adducts and polyamides react with epoxide resins at normal temperatures to give complexes with outstanding chemical resistance. Paints based on this type of reaction must be supplied in two separate containers, one containing the epoxide resin and the other the curing agent , the two being mixed in prescribed proportions immediately before use. [Pg.583]

Uses Intermediate in the manufacture of azo dyes and pigments for printing inks, textiles, paints, plastics, and crayons curing agent for isocyanate-terminated polymers and resins rubber compounding ingredient analytical determination of gold formerly used as chemical intermediate for direct red 61 dye. [Pg.405]

Uses. As a curing agent for epoxy and other resins and as a vinyl plasticizer also found in anticorrosive surface coatings, polymers, paints, dyes, and pharmaceuticals... [Pg.710]

The general chemical resistance offered by these coatings makes them suitable for application in environments involving storage of aqueous mediums, aviation fuel, unleaded gasoline and many hydrocarbons (International Paints, 1996). Resistance to chemicals depends upon the type of curing agent used. [Pg.74]

Duomeen . [Akzo Akzo Chem. BV] Alkyl propane diamines or salts chemical intermediate, corrositm inhibitor, fuel oil additive, flotation agent used in metals, textiles, plastics, herbicides, paints, bitumen emulsions epoxy curing agent... [Pg.114]

Polyisocyanates differ as regards their chemical structure, reactivity, functionality, and isocyanate content. They are the principal curing constituent of two-pack polyurethane paints. Curing agent solutions have an isocyanate content of 5-16 wt%. Solvent-free, liquid curing agents may contain up to 30 wt% isocyanate. [Pg.64]
