Zirconia is known to exist as three, well-defined polymorphs, namely monoclinic, tetragonal, and cubic [173], although the existence of a high-pressure orthorhombic form has also been reported [174]. The lattice parameters of zirconia polymorphs are [Pg.28]

With the rapid development of modem analysis techniques, especially the popularization of single-crystal X-ray diffraction equipment, the origin of various physical and chemical properties, and the clear elucidation of correlations between the structure and properties of Pcs have become possibilities. Together with the maturity and diversification of their modifications, many Pcs have been synthesized and their molecular structures characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis in the past 5 years [15-77]. [Pg.55]

By March 1954 they achieved their final structure for the A zeolite, verifying it shortly thereafter with single crystal x-ray data on a 30 micron A crystal that Breck and Nancy A. Acara had recently grown [17]. By mid 1954, they also completed the structures of X and faujasite [18], with help from single crystal x-ray data on faujasite. In their traditional area of single atoms and molecules, theoretical chemists have developed intricate tools that are now able to predict molecular properties with an accuracy rivaling that of corresponding experiments. At the other end of the size scale, theories for the infinitely extended solid state (at least for the periodic case of crystals) are rapidly catching up. Between these domains, however, difficulties remain, and this is the realm of clusters. Single crystals of poly(oxymethylene) - are also produced by polymerization, involving a cation-initiated insertion of the monomer unit directly into a chain fold of the single crystal.
