Chowhan [9] defined different pathways of physical instability of tablet formulations. These physical paths may involve one or more complex physical processes, e.g. change in polymorphism, crystallization, vaporization and adsorption. These pathways and thus the physical tablet parameters, are influenced by different types of variables formulation variables (e.g. solubility and hygroscopicity), in-process variables (e.g. moisture content) and aging variables (e.g. temperature and relative humidity). [Pg.310]

The amount of limonin incorporated into the juice is influenced by a number of juice processing variables. Factors such as the maceration of albedo, central vascular bundle and carpellary membranes, the time of contact between the rag and the juice, and the amount of pulp incorporated into the final juice product are known to influence juice limonin content. The uneven distribution of XIV in the various tissues of the fruit (Table VII) is largely responsible for the effects of processing variables (33). [Pg.76]

The most critical step in cryopelletization is droplet formation, which is influenced not only by formulations-related variables such as viscosity, surface tension, and solids content but also by equipment design and the corresponding processing variables. The diameter and design of the shearing edge of the holes on the container plates are critical. For instance, the diameter of the holes determines the flow rate, which,... [Pg.2661]

For the esterification with n-butanol, Liu, Zhang, and Chen (2001) used a cross-linked PVA-ceramic composite membrane (in the temperature range of 60—90 °C). This paper is a rare case of use of the Zr(S04)2 -4H20 catalyst. On the basis of a simple Fickian model, the influence of several esterification process variables, such as process temperature, initial mole ratio of acetic acid to n-butanol, the ratio of the effective membrane area to the volume of reacting mixture, and catalyst content, were discussed. A more rigorous model was defined by Liu and Chen (using a kinetic approach) comparing model outcomes with experimental outcomes (Inoue et al., 2007). [Pg.590]

The process does not, by its very nature lead to the desired stereoregular polymers being non-selective in the manner to which monomer adds on to the chain ends. The temperature of polymerization has the greatest influence of the various process variables on the cis-ltrans- ratio but a 1,2- content of about 20% is generally maintained. The relationship shown in Fig. 5.1 (Condon, 1953) has... [Pg.127]

Atmospheric corrosion is a complicated electrochemical process taking place in corrosion cells consisting of base metal, metallic corrosion products, surface electrolyte, and the atmosphere. Many variables influence the corrosion characteristics of an atmosphere. Relative humidity, temperature, sulfur dioxide content, hydrogen sulfide content, chloride content, amount of rainfall, dust, and even the position of the exposed metal exhibit marked influence on corrosion behavior. Geographic location is also a factor. [Pg.39]

As an example of the effect of process variables Fig. 2 shows the influence of presintering temperature on the spinel content in the case of Mn-Zn ferrite, and also the greater rate of densification when a more reactive type of ferric oxide is being used, the density of the fired ferrite being about 4.9 ( ). The effect of presintering temperature on saturation induction is shown by... [Pg.8]

The rheological properties are mainly controlled by the solid content of the slurry and the peptization step (pH and additives) [33]. But, as mentioned above, the role of additives (organics or inorganics) is complex producing synergic or competitive effects in the process variables. Table 2 resumes studies of the influence of these variables on... [Pg.29]

As drying proceeds, the point is reached where the evaporating surface is unsaturated. The point of evaporation moves into tne sohd, and the dry process enters the second faJhng-rate period. The drying rate is now governed by the rate of internal moisture movement the influence of external variables diminishes. This period usually predominates in determining the overall diying time to lower moisture content. [Pg.1181]

There are several potential sources of error in these methods. The filters routinely used have a relatively high and somewhat variable sulfate content, so that, at concentrations lower than 10 Mg/m and sampling periods less than 24 h, the reliability of tlie sulfate measurement is reduc. Several different types of filtering media adsorb sulfur dioxide during the ftrst few hours of sampling this alters the amount of sulfate observed. This interference can become critical when sampling periods are less than 24 h and the concentration ratio of sulfur dioxide to sulfate is greater than 5 1. Interference can also be introduced by hot-water extraction when reduced sulfur compounds like sulfite are present, because they are oxidized to sulfates in this process. Another possible error source is that some of the various analytic procedures us for sulfate determination may be influenced by other substances also present in the particulate matter. [Pg.272]
