Electric Submersible Oil Well Pump Cable. These cables are rated up to 5 kV and are designed for highly corrosive oil wells that besides oil also contain brine and other harsh chemicals as well as gases under high pressure and high temperatures (6). Insulations can be based on polypropylene for low temperature wells or on ethylene—propylene mbber which is compounded with special ingredients in order to resist the environments of high temperature wells (Fig. 4). [Pg.324]

The compounding ingredients for preparation of adhesion test specimens, magnesia (MgO), zinc oxide, Zalba Special (hindered phenol antioxidant from E. I. duPont de Nemours and Co.), and Bakelite-brand t-butylphenolic resin CK-1634 (Union Carbide Corp.) were used as... [Pg.577]

Ethylene-propylene rubber is particularly resistant to sun, weather, and ozone attack. Excellent weather resistance is obtained whether the material is formulated in color, white, or black. The elastomer remains free of surface crazing and retains a high percentage of its properties after years of exposure. Ozone resistance is inherent in the polymer, and for all practical purposes, it can be considered immune to ozone attack. It is not necessary to add any special compounding ingredients to produce this resistance. [Pg.489]

The fiavor mixture was composed of flavor compounds from different chemical classes dissolved in propylene glycol these compounds were obtained from flavor suppliers (Food Ingredients Specialities, [FIS], York, England). They appear by concentration order in the mixture in Table 2. Final concentrations of flavor compounds varied between 0.16 and 10 ppm. [Pg.164]

Because of their extremely high melt viscosities, specialized equipment is usually needed to compound ingredients with high molecular weight thermoplastics, however. In general, high shear rates and large power inputs per unit volume of material are required to achieve a uniform and intimate dispersion of... [Pg.371]

Unfortunately, at the present time there does not appear to be a detailed understanding of the relationship between the properties of the raw materials or the ingredients making up an elastomeric compound and the compound s processability. Therefore, the most widely used approach presently being adopted is to use the conventional characteristics with the standard specification limits issued by the supplier or special agreed upon limits with the supplier to accommodate specific requirements in the fabricators manufacturing process. [Pg.453]

Advances in quality control requirements for rubber compounds have demanded that special care is exercised in the weighing of the various fillers and critical small volume powders necessary for the formulation. Ingredient weighing systems are available which can be tailored to the specific requirements of individual factories. Additional components can include conveyors, bagging units and pneumatic conveyance systems. [Pg.205]

From the FIA—MS overview spectrum, speculation that there can be more than just one structurally defined molecule type behind an observable signal i.e. the presence of isobaric compounds, cannot be excluded whenever one signal defined by the m/z-ratio is examined in FIA-MS spectra. Consequently, the information obtained by FIA-MS is quite limited whenever we deal with complex mixtures of environmental pollutants rather than the analysis of pure products or formulations with a known range of ingredients. LC separation is inevitable when mixtures of isomeric compounds should be identified with MS-MS. Therefore, in FIA-MS-MS special attention has to be paid to avoid the generation of mixed product ion spectra from isomeric parent compounds. This would block identification by library search and may lead to misinterpretations of product ion spectra because of the fragmentation behaviour observed. [Pg.156]

New toxicological data on some of the synthetic antioxidants cautioned against their use. In the recent past, natural antioxidants attracted the attention of many food manufacturers as a result of the necessity to produce healthy foods. Numerous antioxidative efficacious compounds that are found in animal or plant tissues and that are also available as synthetic molecules are used in several food applications. Herbs and spices occupy a special position in foods as traditional food ingredients and hence are appropriately used directly for their antioxidant characteristics. If they are applied to foods, they do not need to be declared as antioxidants. [Pg.285]
