In the L79 design, both the gas flow fields and electrodes are made from single sided copper clad circuit board. Copper clad circuit board comes in a variety of sizes and is either clad with copper on one side only, or both sides. Boards also differ in the type of base material they are made of. This fuel cell requires the FR-4 glass epoxy resin base, clad with copper on one side only. We used a 1 ounce, which is coated with copper to a thickness of. 0014". [Pg.198]

Figure 5.27 shows a pressure plate and a dress cap. The aluminum extrusions were hidden with rubber strips and screws (dress caps). The dress caps were clad with copper sheet. The pressure plate with one of the dress caps is shown in Figure 5.27. [Pg.347]

There are several industry standards covering laminate materials. One of the primary sets of standards is that established by National Electronic Mannfacturers Association (NEMA). Many laminates are clad with copper foil, with the copper later being etched to form printed circuit boards. Epoxy-glass circuit boards are among the most highly used for electronic assemblies. Cladding with copper of the underwater hull of a ship was used on warships to prevent attack of tire wooden hull by the Teredo worm in tropical waters. [Pg.525]

Clad Alloys. The heat-treatable alloys, in which copper or zinc are major alloying constituents, are less resistant to corrosive attack than a majority of the non-heat-treatable alloys. To increase the corrosion resistance of these alloys in sheet and plate form, they are often clad with a high-purity aluminum, a low-magnesium-silicon alloy, or an aluminum alloy containing 1% zinc. [Pg.67]

Corrosion was observed on the aluminum pressure plates and dress-caps that hold the glazing in place on a curtain-walled building. The dress-caps (which have L-shaped cross-sections) were externally clad with thin copper sheet. [Pg.480]

After you clean the board, be sure not to touch the copper surface with your fingers as this will leave minute traces of oils and dirt that can interfere with the processes of image transfer, plating, and the electrical performance of the surface. A good habit for working with copper clad is to wear clean thin cotton gloves to protect the surface of the board while you handle it. [Pg.199]

Mechanical characteristics are an important consideration in the design of NbsSn conductors. The behavior during bending and under tensile stress is compared below for a tape clad on both sides with copper and a tape clad with stainless steel and copper. The NbsSn/Nb substrate ( lO mNb and 10 fim NbsSn) was prepared by liquid diffusion followed by an etching process to reduce ac losses [" ]. The copper and stainless steel cladding were bonded by soldering with an Ag-Sn eutectic. The thickness of the copper was 24 /xm for the... [Pg.455]

Generating by laser cladding with a powder nozzle opens up the opportunity of combining different materials in order to optimize the thermal behavior of a tool. The so-called bimetal tools, for example, are made with a built-in copper zone that is applied during the AM process. [Pg.1027]

For the structural integrity assessment of control plug mockups, 75 thermal shocks have been given so far, based on the preliminary estimation of crack initiation. No visible cracks have been noticed due to the possible statistical variations in the creep-rupture properties. In order to continue the tests, the copper cylinder which was originally provided to simulate the temperatures on the outer shell of mock up, is to be replaced by mild steel cladded with SS. Theoretical analysis has been completed to confirm the use of mild steel in place of copper. [Pg.97]

Copper-clad laminate n. A laminated plastic surfaced with copper foil or plating, used for preparing printed circuits. [Pg.230]

NEMA standards include many variations for reinforcements, resins, and applications. Reinforcements include paper, fabrics, and glass mats. Resins include phenolic, melamine, silicone, epoxy, and polyester. Copper-clad laminates are covered with copper foil for use in printed wiring boards, whereas unclad laminates do not have a foil. Unclad laminates are used in many industrial applications, but NEMA s primary concern is when they are used as electrical insulation. [Pg.366]
