Captive Hardware and Quick Hitachi Detach. Captive and quick attach/detach hardware provides for rapid and easy replacement of components, panels, brackets, and chassis. [Pg.5]

Because of the ease with which they can be soldered, electroplated tin—lead coatings of near eutectic composition (62 wt % tin) are extensively used in the electronics industry for coating printed circuit boards and electrical coimectors, lead wires, capacitor and condenser cases, and chassis. [Pg.61]

Electronic connectors may connect internally or externally. Internal connections may be between a component and a printed circuit board or wire (Fig. la) a printed circuit board and a wire or another printed circuit board which is in a chassis (Fig. lb) and between chassis in the same cabinet (Fig. [Pg.23]

The test for evaluating individual vehicle emissions, the ETP (4), specifies that a test vehicle be stored in an area where the ambient temperature is between 20 and 29°C for at least 12 hours immediately prior to the emission test. Then, the vehicle is placed on a chassis dynamometer which is calibrated for the vehicle weight and road load. The vehicle is started and driven for 41 min on a prescribed cycle of accelerations, cmises, decelerations, idles, a 10-min shutdown (called the hot soak), and a period of remn. [Pg.481]

The EPA regulation prohibits more than 2 grams per test to escape into the atmosphere (114). The test consists of a diurnal cycle of 1 hour where the temperature of the fuel is raised from 15.6 to 28.9°C during a 17 mile mn on a chassis dynamometer. An immediate hot soak in a shed enclosure follows the dynamometer mn. [Pg.492]

Container sliips have guides in the hold and on deck which hold boxlike containers or tanks. The tank is latched to a trailer chassis and hauled to shipside. A movable gantiy, sometimes permanently installed on the ship, hoists the tank from the trailer and Towers it into the guides on the ship. This system achieves large savings in labor, but its apphcation is sometimes limited by lack of agreement between ship operators and unions. [Pg.1022]

All power and controlgears are mounted on withdrawable chassis (Figure 13.36). [Pg.376]

The chassis moves on low-friction rolling mounts or guide rails (Figures 13.2 and 13.36). [Pg.376]

Operation of withdrawable equipment, such as a breaker or components on a withdrawable chassis, will not be possible unless it is in serv ice. test, isolated or totally removed positions. [Pg.377]

For withdrawable parts, such as a draw-out breaker or a draw-out chassis, proper movement of the movable parts and making of the contacts should be ensured. To verify this requirement, the chassis may be moved in and out for at least 50 times. [Pg.432]

The seal must also resist the vibrations from the explosions of internal combustion in the engine, chassis and wheel vibrations, and even potholes in the road. This seal must resist strong chemicals (anti freeze, anti-rust agents, radiator stop-leak and sealant chemicals, gasoline and lubricant residuals), and also solid particles (rust, iron slag, minerals, asbestos fibers, and silica from the engine casting mold). In spite of all this, the mechanical seal on the water pump of your car can run 7, 10, even 15 years without problems. [Pg.181]

There are several joint ventures, such as the Multi Purpose Vehicles (MPV) that Ford, Nissan, and VW produce exactly the same vehicle with slight modifications. Ford, Seat, and VW also produce a common MPV and there are several partnerships, such as Rover engines being supplied to Proton, Ford, and Honda. Lada get their chassis from Fiat and their engines from GM. Mitsubishi build the Carisma in Holland in the same plant that Volvo build the S40. The Porche Boxster is assembled in Finland by the same company that assembles the Saab 9-3 cabriolet, and so on. One cannot be sure who owns the company that makes your car, where the components come from, and where it is assembled. What matters is that it meets your needs and expectations and this can only be achieved if there are some common systems in use in each of the countries, so that who owns who and who builds what becomes irrelevant to customer confidence. It is reported that within 20 years there may only be six vehicle manufacturers left in the world. ... [Pg.8]

Delphi Chassis Systems will provide products and services to global markets that will meet or exceed customer expectations through people, teamwork, and continuous improvement. [Pg.92]

The schedule used to measure highway fuel economy (MPG, ), also driven on a chassis dynamometer, is diagramed in Figure 3b. It covers 10.2 miles in 765 seconds at an average speed of 48.2 mph and a peak speed of 59.9 mph. In contrast to the urban schedule, there... [Pg.104]

Using a rear-wheel-drive vehicle as an example, a prop shaft delivers power from the transmission output, near the middle of the vehicle, to the differential that drives the wheels at the rear. If this prop shaft is designed to be stiff, which is normally the case, it could not be rigidly attached to the transmission output at one end and the differential at the other because of the differences in vertical movement between the drive wheels and the chassis. Typically, two universal joints are inserted into the drivetrain to accommodate this situation. [Pg.356]

Greases are also made from soaps of strontium, barium and aluminum. Of these, aluminum-based grease is the most widely used. It is insoluble in water and very adhesive to metal. Its widest application is in the lubrication of vehicle chassis. In industry, it is used for rolling-mill applications and for the lubrication of cams and other equipment subject to violent oscillation and vibration, where its adhesiveness is an asset. [Pg.879]

Plastics provides a means to producing monocoque constructions such as has been done in different applications that include toys to automotive body, motor truck, railroad car, aircraft fuselage and wings, and houses. Its construction is one in which the outer covering skin carries all or a major part of the stresses. The structure can integrate its body and chassis into a single structure. Unreinforced and RPs are used in these constructions (14, 34). [Pg.153]
