Chassis ground

Example Suppose we measure 2pA going from right to left in one wire. And we measure 5p A going from left to right in the other wire. We don t know the current through the chassis ground (earth). What are the CM and DM components involved ... [Pg.248]

Which would mean that we have a current of 3 tA flowing through earth (chassis ground) connection. And we have 3.5pA flowing in and out of the two wires. [Pg.248]

Figure 10.274 shows a basic source and load connection. No grounds are present, and both the source and the load float. This is the optimum condition for equipment interconnection. Either the source or the load can be tied to ground with no problems, provided only one ground connection exists. Unbalanced systems are created when each piece of equipment has one of its connections tied to ground, as shown in Fig. 10.275. This condition occurs if the source and load equipment have unbalanced (single-ended) inputs and outputs. This type of equipment utilizes chassis ground (or common) for one of the conductors. Problems are compounded when the equipment is separated by a significant distance. Figure 10.274 shows a basic source and load connection. Chassis groimd A connection to the metal frame of an electronic system that holds the components in a place. The chassis ground connection serves as the ground return or electrical common for the system. [Pg.2477]
