Changes in workplace

In any workplace where respirators are necessary to protect the health of the employee or whenever respirators are required by the employer, the employer shall establish and implement a written respiratory protection program with worksite-specific procedures. The program shall be updated as necessary to reflect those changes in workplace conditions that affect respirator use. The employer shall include in the program the following provisions of this section, as applicable ... [Pg.725]

We describe the output market by a unitary elastic demand function. We initially set the price of output at 1. Later, when we investigate OSHA-WC interactions, we allowed the price of output to adjust. Hence, changes in labor costs have direct effects and indirect effects on hedonic labor market equilibrium through their impact on product price. Likewise, changes in workplace safety alter WC insurance prices which then directly and indirectly affect hedonic labor market equilibrium. We discuss the insurance market in the chapter body. [Pg.145]

The employer must carry out an initial assessment and then reassess as often thereafter as necessary to ensure compliance. Reassessment should be done at least every two years. When safety and health information or a change in workplace conditions indicates that a new or increased hazard may be present, the employer should also conduct a reassessment. The employer should investigate each work-related death, serious injury or illness, or incident (near-miss) having the potential to cause death or serious physical harm. The employer should keep records of the hazards identified, their assessment, and the actions the employer has taken, or plans to take. [Pg.23]

The employer must provide periodic information and training as often as necessary to ensure that employees are adequately informed and trained and to ensure that safety and health information and changes in workplace conditions, such as when a new or increased hazard exists, are communicated. [Pg.26]

While occasionally an OHS issue is of such immediate importance that peak employer associations and peak union bodies become involved, this is rare. More commonty, it is likely that an OHS issue arises which is common to mai r workplaces. It may be an old issue, such as fatigue at work, but with a new face, due to changes in workplace organizational structures, staffing and economics. The issue can then be dealt with at the tripartite OHS policy body level (where such a body exists). An expert working party... [Pg.61]

OSHA has concluded that effective management of employee safety and health is a decisive factor in reducing the extent and severity of work-related injuries and illnesses. An effective management program addresses work-related hazards, including those potential hazards that could result from a change in workplace conditions or practices. In addition, it addresses hazards that are not regulatory driven [2]. [Pg.35]

First, managers must recognize that changes in processes and technologies are inherent to every manufacturing facility. Second, they must consider specific factors that contribute to product overestimation. Adjustments, based on product performance, should reflect changes in workplace hazards as processes change in the factory. [Pg.38]

To illustrate the role of variable Pb kinetic compartments, lead workers who encounter abrupt reductions in Pb exposure through retirement, change in workplace Pb exposures, or job actions continue to show the first, rapid kinetic component. Subsequently, workers will show slow decline rates reflecting bone Pb releases. The latter would reflect employment histories and severity of Pb exposures. Nilsson et al. (1991) reported the half-life of the first, fast kinetic component in these workers to be as short as 7 days (Gerhardsson et al., 1995 Nilsson et al., 1991). [Pg.257]

A change in workplace conditions substantially increases the physiological burden placed on the employee. [Pg.327]

B) When safety and health information or a change in workplace conditions indicates that a new or increased hazard exists. [Pg.295]

Has the program been updated as necessary to reflect those changes in workplace conditions that affect respirator use ... [Pg.567]
