Several qualitative and quantitative immunochemical methods for CAP analysis in biological matrices of animal origin have been described [101,102, 104,105] (see Table 3). Van de Water et al. [ 102] described an ELISA that detected CAP in swine muscle tissue with an IC50 value of 3 ng mL1. This immunoassay was improved and subsequently optimized incorporating the streptavidin-biotin amplification system. There are also several commercially available test kits (see Table 4). RIDASCREEN is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of CAP residues in milk, eggs, and meat in a microtiter plate. The measurement is made photometrically, obtaining a LOD of 100 ng L 1 in meat and eggs and 150 ng L 1 in milk. The test has been also applied to the analysis of tetracyclines. 

Kit components of the Transdirect insect cell kit are the Insect Cell Extract (yellow cap) (teg Note 17-19), Reaction Buffer (blue cap), 4 mM Methionine (red cap), pTDl vector (green cap), and the Control DNA (white cap). 

Although chlorine is a hazardous substance, it can he handled safely. All persons who handle chlorine should he thoroughly trained in its properties, in correct use of safety equipment, and in the nperulion ol all other equipment including containers. The Chlorine Institute. 342 Madison Ave.. New York. NY 10017. publishes Ihe Chlorine Manual (available from the Insli-(ule at nominal cost) which provides useful information on these matters. In addition the Chlorine Institute has designed emergency kits capable of capping off certain types of leaks which can occur in chlorine containers. 

The mRNA required for in vitro translation can itself be produced by in vitro synthesis. Commercially available kits allow DNA cloned downstream of T7-, T3 or SP6-promoters to be transcribed effectively in vitro by the relevant RNA polymerases. In coupled transcription-translation, it should be remembered that translation of eukaryotic mRNA requires a 5 cap upstream of the initiation codon, and similarly, for prokaryotic translation there should be an appropriately positioned ribosome binding site. Commercial kits are also available for combined in vitro transcription and translation. 

The conical vial (Fig. 34) is the round-bottom flask of the microscale set, with considerably more hardware. When your glassware kit is brand new, every vial has a plastic cap, O-ring, and plastic disk to match. After one semester, every vial needs this stuff. When you check-in, make sure that every conical vial has a cap that fits and that you have at least one O-ring for each and a plastic disk that just fits inside this cap. 

This mask can be used in any climatic condition, but the M4 winterization kit must be installed when used in temperatures of -20°F or below. A voice-mitter outlet valve, provided on the front of the facepiece, transmits the user s voice outside the mask. A drinking tube assembly is attached just below the voicemitter and allows the user to drink while wearing the protective mask. The drink system couples with the Ml canteen cap (Figure 16-6). 

The mask has an inhalation air-distribution assembly for regulating the flow of air to the mouth and nose, eyelenses, and hood assembly. The M43 mask has a drink capability which couples with the canteen cap. The mask is produced in four sizes from small to extra-large. Accessories include a mask carrier, vision correction outserts, winterization kit, nuclear hood, facepiece carrier, eyelens cushions, and a blower and harness assembly.
