DBMS applications consist of data entry forms, data files, standardized reports, and custom queries of data. Data files are often simple tables. Across the header are columns devoted to different data elements. Each column may have a label to identify what data are in the column. Each row in the table is a different record or data set. For example, each row might be data collected in conjunction with an accident. Some people try to build basic data files using spreadsheets. The spreadsheets have features for stmcturing some analysis. As data files become more sophisticated, a DBMS application will be better. Reports can incorporate a wide range of analysis. [Pg.551]

Bachmann, H. 2002. Seismic Conceptual Design of Buildings - Basic principles for engineers, architects, building owners, and authorities. Order Number 804.802e, Swiss Federal Office for Water and Geology, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. BWG, Biel. [Pg.504]

The 4S is a land-based nuclear power station with the reactor building basically embedded underground for security reasons, to minimize unauthorized access and enhance inherent protection against externally generated missiles. The BOP including a steam turbine system and the HTE units or desalination system is located at ground level. [Pg.396]

Building - Basically speaking, green building is an innovative way to build buildings and houses so to use the tools and materials most efficiently towards the environment. [Pg.97]

Permeable intervals can be identified from a number of logging tool measurements, the most basic of which is the caliper tool. The caliper tool is used to measure the borehole diameter which, in a gauge hole, is a function of the bit size and the mudcake thickness. Mudcake will only build up across permeable sections of the borehole where mud filtrate has invaded the formation and mud solids (which are too big to enter the formation pore system) plate out on the borehole wall. Therefore the presence of mudcake implies permeability. [Pg.151]

The former results shown in section 2 have led FRAMATOME and ONERA to build an equipment specifically adapted to FRAMATOME s requirements. Basically, those requirements are... [Pg.397]

To meet the demand for flexibility the basic electronic components of the scanner system are build as individual modules (Master, Link, Driver and Motor Modules) containing control-and communication electronics. The modules connect through external cables. [Pg.800]

The aim of this section is to show how the modulus-phase formulation, which is the keytone of our chapter, leads very directly to the equation of continuity and to the Hamilton-Jacobi equation. These equations have formed the basic building blocks in Bohm s formulation of non-relativistic quantum mechanics [318]. We begin with the nonrelativistic case, for which the simplicity of the derivation has... [Pg.158]

Any one nucleotide, the basic building block of a nucleic acid, is derived from a molecule of phosphoric acid, a molecule of a sugar (either deoxyribose or ribose), and a molecule of one of five nitrogen compounds (bases) cytosine (C), thymine (T), adenine (A), guanine (G), uracil (U). [Pg.421]

Almost all of the OX that is recovered is used to produce phthaUc anhydride. PhthaUc anhydride is a basic building block for plasticizers used in flexible PVC resins, for polyester resins used in glass-reinforced plastics, and for alkyd resins used for surface coatings. OX is also used to manufacture phthalonitrile, which is converted to copper phthalocyanine, a pigment. [Pg.424]

The four Build Menus ia REACCS are Stmcture, Query, Top, and HighlightRxn. Stmcture menu contains the basic drawiag commands used to constmct the backbone of the stmcture. Query menu contains the commands used to add flexible stmctural parameters to the query. Top menu contains commands used to build reactions and to store and retrieve reactions, molecules, and graphic queries. HighlightRxn menu contains commands that apply atom/atom mapping and reaction centers to the current reaction. Atom/atom mapping is used to identify the reaction centers and iacrease accuracy and efficiency by letting the searcher specify that a particular atom ia a reactant must correspond to a particular atom ia the product. [Pg.125]

Microscopists in every technical field use the microscope to characterize, compare, and identify a wide variety of substances, eg, protozoa, bacteria, vimses, and plant and animal tissue, as well as minerals, building materials, ceramics, metals, abrasives, pigments, foods, dmgs, explosives, fibers, hairs, and even single atoms. In addition, microscopists help to solve production and process problems, control quaUty, and handle trouble-shooting problems and customer complaints. Microscopists also do basic research in instmmentation, new techniques, specimen preparation, and appHcations of microscopy. The areas of appHcation include forensic trace evidence, contamination analysis, art conservation and authentication, and asbestos control, among others. [Pg.328]

In general, pilot-plant space can be divided into five basic types separate buildings, containment cells or barricades, open bays, walk-in hoods, and laboratory areas. A summary of the advantages and disadvantages of each has been given (1). [Pg.41]

PMBs are primarily basic building blocks for more complex chemical intermediates. [Pg.503]
