Brake disc

Beryllium is used as an alloying agent in producing beryllium copper, which is extensively used for springs, electrical contacts, spot-welding electrodes, and non-sparking tools. It is applied as a structural material for high-speed aircraft, missiles, spacecraft, and communication satellites. Other uses include windshield frame, brake discs, support beams, and other structural components of the space shuttle. [Pg.12]

A special feature of phenolic adhesives is the extremely high heat resistance of the adhesive layers, up to several hundred degrees centigrade. Therefore, they are widely used in car manufacturing for the bonding of brake discs and clutch linings on metal carriers. [Pg.40]

The nature of the brake-shoe is easy to loss, which directly indicates that the block has the characteristics of real-time relative variations. Clearance of the brake shoe is a very active parameter. The deflections of brake disc, the oil pressure of the hydraulic pressure station and degree of the fatigue and damage of the disc springs also have effects on it. The direct reaction in the braking system is reflected by the performance of the brake shoe clearance. So the clearance of the brake shoe is the key parameters of safety of real-time monitoring of brake shoe. [Pg.88]

The deflection of brake disc PB = MAX(AX), AX is for the clearance of symmetric brake shoes. [Pg.89]

Oxidation in still air occurs above 500 C, whilst steam and carbon dioxide, with threshold temperatures of 700°C and 900°C are other oxidizing agents. Small quantities of metallic impurities such as sodium, potassium, vanadium or copper will increase the rate of oxidation by as much as sixfold, so purifying is beneficial. Probably the biggest volume application of carbon-carbon is as brake discs for aircraft such as Concorde and other high performance civil and military aircraft where these composites have replaced sintered metals by virtue of their low density and superior thermal performance. [Pg.137]

In the automotive industry, high content pcBN is used to machine a wide range of cast iron components such as brake discs (Fig. 81) and cast iron cylinder blocks (Fig. 82). [Pg.558]

CMCs used was the carbon-fiber-reinforced carbons (C/C). Especially in the high temperamre range, these materials illustrate the state of technology and are assembled among others in brake discs, rocket nozzles, and forming tools (Krenkel 2003). CMCs are also used in slide bearings of pumps in order to improve the wear and corrosion resistance. [Pg.239]
