Blanket mode

In the dry-out mode of concentration, the steam blanket causes the tube to become superheated, so that the temperature rises in proportion. In the second mode of concentration, i.e. at crevices, it arises initially because the confined space impedes coolant ingress so that the liquid component is impoverished, and insoluble species are precipitated. The deposit causes a rise in temperature and steam blanketing follows, as described above. [Pg.842]

The general approach to reduce problems associated with high aspect ratios is planarization of the steps. Planarization of contacts (or vias) can be accomplished by filling them with a conducting material. The main emphasis of this book is to show how this can be achieved by Chemical Vapor Deposition of Tungsten (CVD-W) either in the blanket or in the selective mode. In addition, other important applications of CVD-W will be... [Pg.2]

Another simple and efficient mode of exciting the acrion of the skin consists in wrapping the nndreased pationt In a sheet wrung out of warm water, then over this folding two or three blankets. Tho patient may remain thus packed for an hour or two, until free perspiration has been excited. [Pg.322]

In cases where neither a conducting wall nor a strongly inhomogeneous imposed magnetic vacuum field can be used to control free-surface modes, a cold-mantle (gas blanket) can still be introduced for stabilizing purposes. In the cool and dense partially ionized boundary layer of a fully developed cold mantle, a large... [Pg.391]

In the event of a lire, wear full protective clothing and NIOSH-approvcd self-contained breathing apparatus with full facepiece operated in tlie pressure demand or other positive pressure mode. Use water spray to blanket (ire, cool fire exposed containers, and to flush non-ignitod spills or vapors away from fire. Vapors can flow along surfaces to distunt ignition source and flash back. [Pg.583]

Rankine cycle is used for the production of electricity, and the balance of plant can be adjusted for a cogeneration mode with potable water production. The cross-sectional view of one-fourth part of the core (symmetric in radial and axial directions) is shown in Fig. XXVI-2. B1 and B2 are the blankets, Cl and C2 are the inner and outer cores, R is the reflector, and S is the shielding. [Pg.740]

Likewise, SiC has been considered a suitable material for the coolant channels of the blankets of fusion reactors created from a SiC composite (Ward and Dudaev, 2008), and also as a low-activation structural material to protect against the excessive heat loads of the metal first wall of a potential fusion reactor (Hopkins, 1974). The key figure of merit for the latter application is a high thermal shock resistance, R", which is necessary to withstand the stresses introduced by startups and plasma disruptions, together with the thermal cycling associated with normal pulsed mode operation. In this case, Rf = Ob k (l - t lE-a, where CTj, is the flexural strength, k the thermal conductivity, v the Poisson ratio, E the modulus of elasticity, and a the coefficient of thermal expansion. [Pg.442]

The basic function of the main heat transport system is to remove nuclear heat generated in the fuel elements of the active core and blankets by heavy metal coolant in natural circulation, driven by the gas lift system in all modes of operation, i.e. under normal reactor operation and accident conditions. Figure XXIII-13 shows the schematic diagram of heat removal paths under normal operation and in accidents. [Pg.640]
