In recent times the incorporation of enzymes into nanostructured materials is commonly referred to as nanobiocatalysis. Nanobiocatalysis has emerged as a rapidly growing research and development area. Lately, nanobiocatalytic approaches have evolved beyond simple enzyme immobilization strategies to include also topics like artificial enzymes and cells, nanofabrication, and nanopatterning [18]. A recent bibliometric analysis [19] of nanobiocatalysis publications shows a strong increase within the last decade (Fig. 14.1). The analysis has been compiled from... [Pg.138]

My first source of information about innovation is the Council for Chemical Research (CCR) study completed in the year 2000. There were two main segments of this CCR study. First, a bibliometric study that looked at the strength of the chemical sciences in the United States was undertaken by Fran Narin and his colleagues at CHI Research. Second, Baruch Lev, of the Stem School of Business at... [Pg.7]

If the boundaries between well-established research fields are always fuzzy and controversial, we have to recognize that the delineation of emergent areas of research is, inevitably, a highly arbitrary exercise. For hybrid nanomaterials, we have aimed to represent the field as characterized in this book, which takes a supramolecular chemistry perspective. To do so, we asked one of the editors, K. Rurack, to provide a representative review list of the field (which comprised 28 publications), and each of the contributors to select the five most relevant review publications in the 2002 to 2007 period for their chapter. This yielded a total of 117 unique review publications, with only 16 overlaps (9 by the editor) among the nominated publications. Four reviews were unused because they could not be localized in bibliometric databases. The list of 113 reviews is presented in Appendix 1. [Pg.677]

This research was supported by an EU postdoctoral Marie-Curie Fellowship to IR. We are much indebted to K. Rurack for the collection of selected reviews from the contributors and his advice regarding the interpretation of the bibliometric analysis. We thank J. Glaser, G. Laudel, L. Leydesdorff, A. L. Porter, and SPRU colleagues W. E. Steinmueller and A. Stirling for fruitful discussions. [Pg.686]

The difficulty in obtaining public data on the volume, distribution, and use of chemicals by specific countries involved in the global chemical enterprise is reflected in this chapter, in which most of the numbers are derived from secondary sources and are largely aggregated according to region. There is also little publicly available information on the volume and distribution of chemicals used by academic and research laboratories, especially those in developing countries. The analysis of snpply and distribution to academic laboratories in particular is therefore supplemented by a bibliometric analysis of current chemical literatme. [Pg.19]

A unique resource is the Science Citation Index with paper subsaiption back to 1945 and electronic to 1964. With its multiple indexes, an author may be searched for published articles and where those articles are cited in the scientific literature. The unique features enable the Institute for Scientific Information to provide a bibliometric analysis of science journals in their database to list the most frequently used journals and those journals with the highest impact. This analysis is published as Journal Citation Reports. [Pg.16]

The majority of the research work recently published in the area of carbon nanofillers focuses on the characterization of polymer composites with functionalized-graphene sheets, as indicated in a bibliometric survey conducted by Peng et al. (Lv et al., 2011). However, some studies are available in which the characterization of mechanical and functional properties of polymer—intercalated/exfoliated graphite oxide or GO is reported, as summarized in the following sections. [Pg.165]

General and multidisciplinary science is included in the database SCISEARCH, published by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). This database contains bibliographic information and cited references from approximately 5000 of the world s leading scientific, technical, and medical journals. Since 1991 the bibliographic records have included abstracts and additional keywords. It is possible to search for literature citations of individual publications, authors, or even complete companies or institutes. This provides an excellent tool for different kinds of bibliometric analyses. [Pg.1975]

A bibliometric research of papers published over the last two decades in relation to the formation of flavor (compounds) by LAB in fermented foods shows that two-thirds of the studies concern dairy products (Figure 19.1). Therefore, many of the examples chosen as illustrations in this chapter refer to dairy products. Moreover, the involvement of LAB in winemaking, reviewed in Chapter 15, will not be considered. [Pg.315]
