Bauer studies

In the antiferromagnetic state, the spins are oriented parallel to the c-axis. Moss-bauer studies have indicated that the number and type of subsites in the magnetic structure may be influenced by the halide concentration, the nature of the halide and the level of excess protons vhich balance the halide charge. When chloride is present in the structure, there are tv o different Fe " sites, vhereas for fluoride-containing akaganeite, the number of non-equivalent cation sites may be greater. 

The copper, copper-iron, and the silver sulfides are more complex than the sulfides discussed previously, containing several cations or cation sites in their structures. Thus chalcopyrite (CuFeSj), although having a fairly simple structure based on that of sphalerite, but with Cu and Fe alternately replacing Zn atoms, contains both Cu+ and Fe + in regular tetrahedral coordination (as indicated by neutron diffraction and Moss-bauer studies see Vaughan and Craig, 1978). A family of more than thirty synthetic compounds with the chalcopyrite structure is known, and their properties have been studied because of potential applications as semiconductors. Miller et al. (1981) have reviewed the crystal structures, vibrational properties, and band structures of these materials. 

Sodium nitroprusside reacts with hydrazine in various media and at various pH values to yield Na3[Fe(CN)5N2H4],H20 and Na[Fe(CN)5N2],3H20. Moss-bauer studies have shown that H4Fe(CN)g undergoes simple addition of bases (diethylenetriamine, 1,2-diaminopropane, hexa-1,6-diamine, 4,4-tetramethyldiamino-... 

The synthesis of benzoselenazolidinones (36) still follows the 1912 method of Bauer. Studies of the medicinal properties of the ring system has recently utilized this approach (Equation (11)) <93SC621, 94JMC2903).

Iron(n).— The only slow formation reactions of iron(n) complexes are those in which a low-spin complex is formed from the high-spin aquated (solvated) cation. It is well established from kinetic studies that in the formation of [Fe(LL)8] , where LL = bipy, phen, or one of their analogues or derivatives, there is no evidence for appreciable concentrations of the (high-spin) intermediates [Fe(LL)a(OHa)2] and [Fe(LL)(OH2)4]. Moss-bauer studies of the reaction between Fe +(aq) and 2,2 -bipyridyl now lend further support to the kinetic evidence for the absence of significant amounts of the mono- and bis-2,2 -bipyridyl intermediates during the formation of the [Fe(bipy)3] + cation. ...

The PVFj gauge has been calibrated up to 4 GPa (Bauer, 1984) for both shock loading and release. Graham and Lee (1986) have extended these calibration studies to about 20 GPa, and have measured both a shock loading and release profile in sapphire at 12 GPa, as indicated in Fig. 3.15.

In studies designed to examine dermal absorption of trichloroethylene, emersion of the hand (Sato and Nakajima 1978) or thumb (Stewart and Dodd 1964) for 30 minutes was reported to be pairrful. The pain was described as excruciating in one study (Sato and Nakajima 1978), and in another study it was described as mild by one subject and moderately severe by two subjects (Stewart and Dodd 1964). Occupational exposure to trichloroethylene that involved both dermal and inhalation exposure has been reported to result in dizziness, headache, insomnia, lethargy, forgetfulness, and loss of feeling in the hands and feet (Bauer and Rabens 1974 Kohlmuller and Kochen 1994).
