Corporate environmentalism is an evolving concept for environmental protection. In this case, business takes a pro-active stance independent of regulatory authorities. This can be in recognition of social responsibilities, but is more successful when compelled by competition in the market place. Thus, a hrm can conscientiously target environmentally aware consumers (through marketing environmentally friendly products or processes) or can be better placed for hnancial support from ethical investment funding bodies. 

Top-level support is often most valuable when it is highly visible. Perhaps the most useful role senior management can take on behalf of PSM is to endorse it explicitly—both inside the company and externally. Senior managers active participation in communications about PSM lends cred -ibility and generates awareness of PSM as a company priority in ways that not even the most dedicated staff team can achieve. 

To achieve this goal, top management must delegate authority, as necessary, to all management and supervisory levels. Supervisors in turn, as advised by the health officer, must accept and interpret the policy and actively support it. A supervisor, for example, must ensure that each of his or her employees understands the properties and hazards of any material that is handled, stored, or used by them, and takes all necessary precautions and follows established work procedures. An employee must make an effort to be aware of the hazards associated with toxic materials and follow the procedures laid down for their handling. 

It is only comparatively recently that we have become acutely aware of the need to utilize resources in a sustainable manner. The concept of sustainability began to receive attention during the 1970s and was first formalized internationally in the World Conservation Strategy of 1980. The initial concepts were taken from the idea of sustainable yield, as applied in forestry and agriculture. This is defined as the amount of crop that can be harvested without compromising the capacity of future harvests to produce an equal crop. The level of consumption of a resource to support an activity should meet the needs of the present, whilst ensuring that sufficient resources are available to meet the needs of the future. The concepts of sustainability include social, economic and environmental factors. All three must be taken into account if the absolute sustainability of a process is to be determined. 

Razumovskii and his colleagues appear not to have been aware of the work of Priest et al. and prefer to interpret their own results as supporting a mechanism that involves attack of ozone on the CH,—CH, unit in polyethylene. Rate constants for the reaction have not been measured, and no assessment of the role of other oxidizing species has been made. However, it is presumed that a high-pressure ozonizer was used and that ozone was the active species. 

Finally, the BAC-MP4 results support the conclusion that the early measurements of organometallic reaction kinetics and M-C bond energies by Price et al., which were attributed to gas-phase processes, may be in error. In all cases we are aware of, including measurements of DMTC decomposition, the bond energies reported by these authors are considerably weaker than those predicted by ab initio methods. This suggests that either radical chain pathways were active in their experiments (a possibihty that might be discoimted since their measurements were performed in an atmosphere of toluene, which is an effective radical scavenger), or that surface reactions with... 

The three preceding questions and answers apply to any state of consciousness, to dreaming as well as waking, as long as that state of consciousness achieves an integrated awareness of the world (be it real or Active), the body (be it connected or disconnected), and the self (be it fully or only partially accurate). In every case, there is complementary evidence to support these hypotheses ... 

The importance of making staff aware that a project is underway, and that it is fully supported and being monitored by senior management should not be underestimated. The influence of a formal launch on the activities of both team members and other members of staff in the organisation is markedly positive.
