Automatic mode

Minimize use of manual mode control through well designed automatic mode of operation... 

Analysis of the chromatogram is carried out Interactively with the operator directing the flow of analysis from the computer keyboard, or in the automatic mode immediately after data collection to an extent specified using SETUP. Automatic analysis may also be applied to a series of chromatograms at any time by putting the run numbers or names of the files in the run number file. Before the next set of data collections, the programs check that the number in the run number file is the latest run number for all the files on the disk. 

A second fully automated device, the HPTLC applicator AS 30 (described earlier), can be employed in connection with a sampling device. Automated refilling of the syringe is performed by editing a volume factor, e.g., 10 for application of 10 times 100 pi. This device can be recommended if loss of sample is not relevant (e.g., owing to automatic rinsing operations that afford at least 70 pi dead volume for a minimal 20-cm tube connection). However, the fully automatic mode is not recommended for valuable samples. Sample volume still present in the Teflon tube between the sampler and AS 30 syringe will be wasted and lost because this operation cannot be circumvented by the user. 

The measurement and control system of the desiccant system has been set into operation in February 2002. The collector system runs in automatic mode since March 2002 and produces hot water for the restaurant. 

For non-experienced users, which may prefer to use one single experimental parameter set suitable for all samples, or for being used in automatic mode, we found experimentally that the three-step low-pass J filter offers the best compromise between 1Jch suppression and "/ch attenuation. It provides excellent results for nearly all molecules, and only in very special cases a four- or a five-step low-pass J filter will be required. 

AUTO. This is the normal position of the M-A transfer switch. It places the controller in the automatic mode of operation. Also, the deviation meter indicates any deviation between controlled variable and setpoint.

BAL. In many cases, controller output signals of the automatic mode and manual mode may not be the same. If the controller were directly transferred from automatic to manual or manual to automatic, the controller output signal could suddenly change from one value to another. As a result, the final control element would experience a sudden change in position or "bump." This can cause large swings in the value of the process variable and possible damage to the final control element. 

Bumpless transfer is the smooth transfer of a controller from one operating mode to another. The balance (BAL) position provides this smooth transfer when transferring the controller from the automatic to manual mode. In the BAL position, the controller is still in the automatic mode of operation, but the deviation meter now indicates the difference between outputs of manual and automatic modes of control. The manual output is adjusted until the deviation meter shows no deflection. Now, the controller can be transferred smoothly from automatic to manual. 

Mode indicating lights. Located directly below the manual push buttons, these lights indicate the operating mode of the controller. When in manual mode, the left light, labeled "M", will be lit when in the automatic mode, the right light, labeled "A", will be lit. 

Mode selection buttons. Located directly under each mode indicating light, each button will select its respective mode of control. If the button below the "M" mode light is depressed, the controller will be in the manual mode of operation if the button below the "A" mode light is depressed, the controller will be in the automatic mode of operation. 

BET surface areas and porosities were determined with an ASAP 2000 apparatus coupled with an A.S.I computer. The samples were previously outgassed at 200°C in an automatic mode.

With Deconvolution 1 you have access to a fully automatic and interactive mode. In the automatic mode only the region used for deconvolution and a few optional parameters (type of lineshape. number of peaks,. ..) may be set. Whilst the interactive mode allows you to set the initial values for the parameters controlling the iterative fitting process and to create, edit and delete peaks. 

The second half of the 1990s saw an increase in the use of dialysis (as a liquid-liquid extraction procedure). Alternative to DDA, the term information-dependent acquisition (IDA) is used. Both DDA and IDA describe an automatic mode where the MS/MS parameters are collected automatically by calculating the parameter set (e.g., collision energy) based on the mass and charge state of the selected precursor ion. 

The unit operates under computer control. Laser temperature and current selections for each species are input to the computer. The system is then switched to automatic mode and can operate unattended for at least 24 hours.
