What is an auctioneering control system, and where would you use it Describe a situation (different from those of Example 20.5) where you could use auctioneering control. [Pg.215]

Cascade control, 395-402, 410, 445 Catalytic reactors auctioneering control, 405-7 fluid catalytic cracking, 75-76 regeneration of catalyst, 406 Centra] processing unit, 553-54 Characteristic equation, 285-87 of digital control loop, 623, 628 Characteristic polynomial, 145, 167, 321 of second-order system, 188 Chemical reactors batch (see Batch reactor) catalytic (see Catalytic reactor)... [Pg.353]

Most disturbances in chemical engineering systems are load disturbances, such as changes in throughput, feed composition, supply steam pressure, cooling water temperature, etc. The feedback controller s Auction when a load disturbance occurs is to return the controlled variable to its set-point by suitable changes in the manipulated variable. The dosedloop response to a load disturbance is called the regulator response or the closed-loop load response. [Pg.171]

Just as it is widely (but usually wrongly) assumed that auctions lead to increased costs on downstream consumers, it is also widely assumed that free allocation helps to reduce potential adverse impacts of the EU ETS on the competitiveness of European industry relative to countries without C02 controls. [Pg.141]

The principle of GEP for the BMS system controlling offices, restrooms, and corridors was adopted. The project milestones were then planned and auctioned in accordance with the combined (cGMP/GEP) plan. The suppher was audited and commissioned with the understanding that it must participate in the risk assessments. It was agreed that savings in project costs would be shared however, the company s QA audit group would assess the whole project and fines could be applied if breaches in quality were detected. [Pg.694]

Since 1995 The concentration of economic authority in vertically integrated companies, the transformation of companies from state controlled enterprises into private companies by means of the mechanism of money auctions, reorganization of the capital of the companies. [Pg.181]

Use of an auctioneering system to select the highest temperature which will be used to control the flow rate of the coolant (Figure 20.9)... [Pg.213]

Selective control loops covers a large number of diversified selective control systems for protection of equipment, auctioneering, redundant instrumentation, variable structuring, and so on. [Pg.589]

An auction is a mechanism whereby sellers and buyers come together and agree on a transaction price. Many auction mechanisms exist, each governed by a different set of rules. In this paper, we focus on the Continuous Double Auction (CDA), the most widely used auction mechanism and the one used to control all the world s major financial exchanges. The CDA enables buyers and sellers to freely and independently exchange quotes at any time. Transactions occur when a seller accepts a buyer s bid , or when a buyer accepts a seller s ask . Although it is possible for any seller to accept any buyer s bid, and vice-versa, it is in both of their interests to get the best deal possible at any point in time. Thus, transactions execute with a counter party that offers the most competitive quote. [Pg.24]

The traditional way to calculate the physical characteristics of a fast reactor is to carry out the following steps (1) preparation of the effective cross sections for regions of the reactor (2) a three-dimensional calculation to obtain k-eff, and real and adjoint fluxes (3) edit the results of the previous steps to estimate the power and reaction rate distributions, neutron kinetics parameters, control rod effectiveness, etc., and (4) a bumup analysis, calculating the variation of the isotopic composition with time, and then recalculating the results obtained in the previous steps for particular bumup states. This scheme has been implemented, for example, in the TRIGEX code [4.49]. This code calculates k-eff, few group real and adjoint fluxes, power spatial distribution, dose factor and reaction rates distributions, breeding parameters, bumup effects, and kinetics parameters (effective delayed neutron Auction, etc.). [Pg.161]
