Attachments Require Training

Hydraulically powered lift truck attachments are very versatile and can do everything from reaching deep into a rack to remove a pallet, to lifting, turning, stacking, and transporting paper rolls weighing some 10,000 pounds. [Pg.160]

Many attachments have four primary effects on a lift truck  [Pg.160]

No attachment should be added to a lift truck unless that attachment is marked for use only with a particular kind, size, or brand of lift truck. Operator training is rather limited with most organizations safety training for fork-mounted attachments is even more scarce. Any attachment, permanent or detachable, other than the standard forks, that is added to a lift truck must be approved by the lift truck manufacturer in writing. An appropriate revised or additional data plate must be furnished. Employees or contractor workers require special training to handle maintenance issues for attachments. [Pg.160]

The performance of personnel should be periodically reviewed to identify any refresher training requirements. Some pharmaceutical and healthcare companies achieve this through an audit or a Periodic Review of training records, which must be updated to reflect the training received. Marked eompetency questionnaires or test papers should be attached to training records where possible. [Pg.72]

All of the attachments require detailed and individual operator training and sometimes certification. [Pg.160]

The low speed gear shaft and the housing must be designed to permit installation of a stub shaft for a torsiograph unit if an operational problem occurs. API 613 gives the details of the shaft end requirements for attaching a torsiograph. This should be done on all synchronous motor compressors and on multiple driver or multiple compressor case trains. [Pg.331]

For some purposes (e.g. in the Grignard reaction) solid carbon dioxide marketed as Cardice , Dry Ice or Drikold may be employed. Lumps of solid carbon dioxide should not be picked up with unprotected hands otherwise frostbite may result. If powdered material is required, the larger lumps should be wrapped in cloth and hammered. Solid carbon dioxide affords a convenient regulated supply of the gas when suitably sized lumps are allowed to evaporate in a Buchner flask attached to a sulphuric acid drying train. [Pg.423]

Prior to startup of new facilities or facilities that have undergone changes, a Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) must be performed by a supervisor of Ibe affected process unit. If the supervisor is assured that construction and equipment are in accordance with design specifications and that affected procedures, process safety information, and training are updated, he completes the PSSR form (see Form 10-3). If any of the pre-startup requirements have not been met satisfactorily, the supervisor sees to it that the deficiencies are corrected and the Pre-Startup Safety Review is repeated. Certain items on the PSSR may be completed after startup only if a suspended condition is generated for later follow-up. The supervisor forwards the MOC and PSSR forms and any attachments to the second-level supervisor or department head for approval to startup the change. [Pg.229]

Media for the production phase are usually richer in nutrient content than the seed train medium in order to maintain viability and productivity of the cells for a minimum of 1-2 weeks. For facilitating recovery and purification of the product and for cost reduction, serum is not used for the production phase. The attachment of cells to the surface of the rollerbottle wiU not be compromised by such a modification in the medium. However, gentle handling is required or the sheets of cells will detach. Upon incubation of the confluent cells with the enriched, serum-free medium, the secreted product will be harvested, leaving the adherent cells inside the bottle. Sometimes, a refeeding with fresh medium for a second production cycle is possible, on the condition that the product of the first and the second harvest will be similar in composition and quality. Since a standard 2-L rollerbottle will contain about 300 mb of medium for harvest, 1000 roUer-bottles will provide from 300 L to 600 L of supernatant. Over a one-year period, a manufacturing process based on this schedule will deliver 15 000-30000 L of... [Pg.738]

A supply-train, under the charm of an ordnance-officer, was attached to each division, from which iaaues>were made as required to the company or regimental officers, upon properly approved requisition. [Pg.121]

High-pressure operations should be carried out only with equipment specifically built for this use and only by those trained especially to use this equipment. Reactions should neva- be carried out in, nor heat applied to, an apparatus that is a closed system unless it has been designed and tested to withstand pressure. To ensure that the equipment has been properly designed, each pressure vessel should have stamped on it, or on an attached plate, its maximum allowable working pressure, the allowable temperature at this pressure, and the material of construction. Similarly, the relief pressure and setting data should be stamped on a metal tag attached to installed pressure-relief devices, and the setting mechanisms should be sealed. Relief devices used on pressure regulators do not require these seals or numbers. [Pg.127]
