A powerful way of overcoming the credibility problem associated with QSARs is to establish a formal framework for promoting the use of QSARs. Ideally, this framework should be managed by an organization that is independent of national and sectoral interests, which is close to the regulatory process, and has no commercial interests associated with the use of QSARs. The framework should not only facilitate the development and validation of QSARs, but should also provide a means for the independent peer review of the validation process and initiate the regulatory acceptance process wherever appropriate. 

National and state pharmacy associations recognize National Pharmacy Week as an opportunity for promoting the value of pharmacist services. Although the reaction mechanisms are not clear at present, the hydrogenation and dehydration abilities of Zr02, which are associated with basic properties, seem to be important for promoting the reaction. By modification of Zr02 with metal ions such as Cr and Mn, the activity is increased, crystallization is suppressed and the coke formation is avoided.

Administration of recombinant-derived IL-2, both in vitro and in vivo, appears to restore certain immune functions in aged mice. Recovery of T-regulatory effects on B-ceU differentiation has been reported in human cells from elderly patients treated with IL-1 and/or IL-2 (42). Similar effects have been observed in the presence of the pentapeptide thymopentin [69558-55-0] (Arg Lys Asp Val Tyr), a weU-known IL-2 inducer. Recombinant IL-2 adrninistered to aged mice for three weeks has been shown to correct the T-ceU functional deficiency associated with antigen-specific immunoglobulin production by certain lymphoid tissue (43).

These are molecules which contain both hydrophilic and hydrophobic units (usually one or several hydrocarbon chains), such that they love and hate water at the same time. Familiar examples are lipids and alcohols. The effect of amphiphiles on interfaces between water and nonpolar phases can be quite dramatic. For example, tiny additions of good amphiphiles reduce the interfacial tension by several orders of magnitude. Amphiphiles are thus very efficient in promoting the dispersion of organic fluids in water and vice versa. Added in larger amounts, they associate into a variety of structures, filhng the material with internal interfaces which shield the oil molecules—or in the absence of oil the hydrophobic parts of the amphiphiles—from the water [3].
