Engineering approach

Action Adopt a new way of thinking and approaching engineering problems — be prepared to re-assess decisions at every stage of the design, and incorporate necessary changes. Do not assume every problem has a particular method of solution and a single correct answer. 

An advanced approach to assembly modeling is its full integration with part modeling. Assembly modeling is done in an assembly model space where parts are modeled to define shapes and dimensions that are affected by the assembly. Additional details of the part are modeled in the part model space. Part models can be created for an assembly in accordance with their place in a predefined product assembly tree. This is the top-down approach. Existing part models can be used to create a product assembly tree. This is the bottom-up approach. Engineering practice mixes these two approaches because some parts are available at the start of the modeling of a mechanical system while other parts are to be modeled on the basis of their place in the assembly tree. Eor multiple applications of a part model, it is not duplicated but referred from the assembly model. 

Control Strategy—Reducing or Eliminating Hazards. A strategy for reducing or eliminating workplace hazards can include either or both of two approaches engineering and/or administrative controls. 

Arora and Kulkarni [1] describe a theory of how the combination of detectors and correctors lead to fault-tolerant systems. Roughly, our approach makes their theoretic considerations practically applicable, as using our approach, engineers combine and nest detection and handling requirements in similar way and our tools provide argumentation on certain fault-tolerance aspects.
