The rate of silicate sol and gel formation is pH and water-alcohol-sensitive as is the solubility of the amorphous silica that is formed. Silica networks are based on (Si04) " tetrahedra modified by (O3 Si-O, M+) units and often addition of boron oxide, aluminum oxide, titanium IV oxide, or zirconium IV oxide. [Pg.399]

Fig 1 Scheme of the screen-printed process a typical thick-film screen consists of a finely woven mesh of stainless steel, nylon or polyester, mounted under tension on a metal frame, normally aluminium. The screen defines the pattern of the printed film and also determines the amount of paste which is deposited. The mesh is coated with a ultraviolet sensitive emulsion (usually a polyvinyl acetate or polyvinyl alcohol sensitized with a dichromate solution) onto which the circuit pattern can be formed photographically. The ink is placed at one side of the screen and a squeegee crosses the screen under pressure, thereby bringing it into contact with the substrate and also forcing the ink through the open areas of the mesh. The required circuit pattern is thus left on the substrate... [Pg.31]

The first type of pharmacotherapy for alcohol problems uses compounds that alter the metabolism of alcohol if it is consumed. Peachey and Annis (1985) reviewed these compounds, which they called the alcohol-sensitizing drugs. The most popular of these are disulfiram (trade name Antabuse) and carbimide (Temposil). Antabuse has been in use in the United States since 1948. Temposil, on the other hand, is not available in the United States and is used less frequently overall than Antabuse (NIAAA, 2000). In any case, use of both agents in treatment is based on similar assumptions regarding the psychological effects of their chemical action. [Pg.391]
