Aggregate volume

In general we found that the oil solubilization rate is a function of the surfactant aggregate size. The maximum eff for a series of surfactant solutions seems to occur at the condition that the surfactant associates to the maximum aggregate volume without increasing the density of the aggregate. The eff value seems to parallel the final solubilization value of the surfactant. [Pg.103]

With very few exceptions, therefore, the molecules of all compounds, no matter bow great may be the aggregate volume of their constituents, occupy, when compared at the same temperature and pressure, one uniform volume, which is exactly the same as that filled by one moleoule of hydrogen. Thus ... [Pg.13]

The tinting strength of rubber-grade carbon blacks shows a linear relationship with D s shown in Figure 5. Since performance characteristics are known to depend on aggregate volume, surface area, and bulkiness, it appears that the D s values combine the effects of all these factors. As such, it is a valuable addition to carbon black characterization methodology. [Pg.542]

Sc is the strength of the concrete-polymer composite, Sm is the cement strength, Vm is the cement volume, Sd is the aggregate strength, Vd is the aggregate volume, A is a theoretically and experimentally determined constant, and 6 is a factor relating to the bonding between... [Pg.564]

Boundary Cells. A cell on the boundary has one wall in contact with the gutside world and hence the flux through that wall is K.M and not J. Generally we want to replace J1 with KM over that fraction of the cell surface in common with the outer boundary. One method for doing so is to replace J in (66) by (K in those parts of the d-dimensional sphere surrounding point r that stick outside the cell aggregate volume. Thus (67,68) take the same form for the boundary points except that F takes on the form, for d = 3,... [Pg.191]

Einstein Equation for Viscosity of Suspensions—Einstein derived a general equation for computation of the viscosity of a suspensoid in terms of viscosity of the medium, and the ratio of aggregate volume of solid particles to total volume of suspensoid. Einstein s equation is... [Pg.349]

The structure or amount of specific voids of the three grades is almost the same and differs between 1 cm3/g and 1.2 cm3/g, only. Since the specific weight of carbon black is almost twice that for DBP, this corresponds to a factor of 2 for the void volume as compared to the solid volume of the aggregates. It means that about 2/3 of the aggregate volume is empty space, i.e., the solid fraction p of the primary aggregates is relatively small (Op 0.33). [Pg.24]

Six samples of waste plastics were prepared for the tests. Four of them were obtained from a size reduction facility for industrial plastics recycling. The size of the plastics particles was about 2 to 10mm. The other two were obtained by being separated from domestic wastes collected in two cities and crushed to produce the size of 2 to 5 mm particles. These plastics particles were added to an asphalt mixture in quantities from 5 to 10 percent of the aggregate volume. [Pg.33]

In the absence of better information, it is sometimes assumed that errors from the two assumptions in the Smoluchowski approach compensate for each other. Reductions in collisions resulting from hydrodynamic effects are assumed to be offset by increases in collision rates as aggregate volume increases while coagulation proceeds. The Smoluchowski approach modified to include hydrodynamic interactions is useful at the onset of aggregation processes, when the inclusion of fluid within aggregate pores is small. [Pg.330]

The dependence of the elastic modulus on protein concentration has been used to establish the framework of fractal geometry. Bremer et al. (1990) indicated that a cluster of protein molecules would possess a fractal nature if the power-law dependence exists between the amount of floes in the cluster and the radius of the cluster. In addition, the magnitude of this power, signified as the fractal dimension, D, would be below 3. The elastic constant of protein aggregates could be described as a function of the aggregate volume fraction ... [Pg.266]

The boundary condition used for Equations 12 and 13 is that the calculated total volume of aggregates equals the measured aggregate volume. [Pg.114]

Although the coalescence assumption may lead to small errors in the scattering cross section, it does enable the rapid correlation of turbidity data (n) with electronic particle counter data (n and fi), provided the relative refractive index and size regime are known. Because the electronic particle counter measures the aggregate volume, and therefore determines only an equivalent spherical radius, the data from the electronic particle counter relate only to the coalesced-sphere approach. [Pg.338]

Removal of a chemical from the HPV Ust required evidence that the chemical was no longer being produced by any company or group of companies at a total aggregate volume of one milUon pounds or greater and the chemical was not likely to become an HPV chemical in the future. The claim had to be verifiable based on business plans, past production patterns, and credible trends in the market. [Pg.329]

The volume of the aggregates is approximated by the volume occupied by the surfactants and solutes in the aggregates but does not include encapsulated solvent. Then the aqueous volume is just the total volume of the lattice minus the aggregate volumes. We do not consider the solubilization phenomena here in detail some preliminary information on this is given by Talsania [26]. [Pg.116]

Aggregates also have surface pores or cavities (see Figure 2.8). Hence, the actual volume determined is relative that is, the aggregate volume is greater than the apparent volume. [Pg.76]

Based on Wallace (2004), Sales and Operations Planning (S OP) is a business process that helps companies keep demand and supply in balance. It does that by focusing on aggregate volumes (e.g., product families or product groups), so that, mix issues (individual products and customer orders) can be handled more readily. It occurs on a monthly cycle and displays information in both units and dollars, thus it integrates operational and financial planning. [Pg.53]
