In actual research, the activation index (H, mass ratio of the floating portion to total samples) is used to evaluate the surface modiflcation results of whiskers (refer to the national standard GB/T 19281-2006). Scherer and Godoy (2009) developed the antioxidant activity index (AAI) to evaluate antioxidant capacity. The AAI is calculated as follows AAI = DPPHt/ICso. ISO EN 7730 standardizes the PMV-PPD index as the method for evaluation of moderate thermal environments. To quantify the degree of comfort, the PMV (predicted mean vote) index gives a value on a 7-point thermal sensation scale -t-3 hot, +2 warm, +1 slightly warm, 0 neutral, -I slightly cool, -2 cool, -3 cold. An equation in the standard calculates the PMV index based on the six factors (clothing, activity, air and mean radiant temperatures, air speed, and humidity).

Loeomotor aetivity has historically been used as an index of psychostimulant effects. Simple assessment of amount of loeomotor activity can provide the basis for anatomical as well as pharmaeologieal analysis of the neural substrates that mediate the behavioral expression of stimulant action. More sophisticated behavioral measurement systems ean reeord multiple measures of activity and describe spatial and temporal patterning of loeomo-tion. In such systems, qualitative aspects of behavioral activation can be evaluated by examining the entire activity profile. A comparison of the effects of novel drugs with those produced by well-characterized substanees may lead to a better understanding of their mechanisms of action and subjective properties.
