World becoming aware

Being convinced of the value of the renewables approach for the industrial world, as well as for developing countries, I was myself delighted to collaborate on this series of books focusing on different aspects of renewable resources. I hope that readers become aware of the complexity, the interaction and interconnections, and the challenges of this field and that they will help to communicate on the importance of renewable resources. 

So long as we have not become aware that the presence of God is a space, encompassing the whole of reality just as the three-dimensional space does, so long as we conceive the world of God only as the upper story of the cosmic space, so long will God s activity, too, always be a force which affects earthly events only from above. 

The two initial stages of becoming aware and evaluating awareness parallel the central features of the Myers-Brlggs model of how we get to know our worlds (see Chapter 2). 

Becoming aware of one s world and evaluating it do not take place independently of each other. They perpetually interact, with evaluations generating searches for new awareness, and vice versa. 

Becoming aware of the world around us is something that is so automatic that it is easy to take it for granted. What is being emphasized here is that it should be tackled creatively. 

Is it possible to fuse the subjectivity of consciousness with the objectivity of brain activity If the brain—or its informational content—becomes aware of the outside world and then of itself as the instrument of that awareness, it seems possible that the awareness itself is brain activity. We leave out the usual qualifier nothing but (brain activity) to avoid giving offense but that, of course, is what we mean. 

Ordinarily, we think that after we are faced with a situation and become aware of it, we may remember some relevant information, evaluate the nature of the situation and make a decision about it, and then act in some fashion, initiating Motor Output through our muscles to affect the external world or our own bodies. Sometimes, we consciously experience those special... 

The beginning of the development of chemical weapons during the First World War was haphazard. The impetus came from chemists who had become aware of the noxious effects of certain chemicals in their laboratories, and who felt that these efforts could be exploited to assist national war efforts. Certainly from 1914 onwards, attempts were being made in several academic laboratories throughout Europe to convert... 

At this point you can become aware of the wave structure of the world around you. 

Social sensitivity The Machiavellian monkey is competing in a world of other Machiavellian monkeys, and success may depend upon an astute and sensitive reading of others behaviour. For example, our corpus of tactical deception indicated that primates are often sensitive to the attentional focus of others, which they both monitor and manipulate, sometimes to the extent of temporarily inhibiting attention to a critical locus so that others will not become aware of this interest (Whiten Byrne 1988a). This capacity has recently been experimentally confirmed (Tomasello et al 1998). 

First, we can become aware of the standardized pictures in our heads, in other peoples heads, in the world around us. 

These two concepts, the One World, and the shaman s Initiation into its mysteries, are emblematic of a cosmic transaction -- that of the Subjective becoming aware of itself within the Objective for the purpose of ultimate unification. In the concept of psychedelic shamanism lies the possibility of a deceptively easy access to the inner realms for the purposes of growth and integration. As always, the rewards of such undertakings are proportional to their dangers. 

Finally, as the world becomes more aware of the environmental damage caused by indiscriminate waste disposal it is apparent the RO process will play a key role in mitigating that problem. It appears that the next market for the RO process will be in industrial waste treatment in the United States to be followed by application in other countries. Eventually, the world will be forced to use reverse osmosis to reclaim municipal wastewater on a large scale and to put the reclaimed water to a number of already demonstrated beneficial uses. 

You can also become aware of outside sensations, like the movement of the air or any sounds around you. Instead of seeing these external events as a distraction, experience them as part of the moment. Anything in your world—anything at all—can be approached with openness and awareness. 

Very recently, our society - indeed the whole human raee - has become aware that we have been mortgaging our eollective futures to satisfy our appetites for individual riches. Although only a few hundred millions of us on the planet shared between us the vast amount of wealth and therefore generated the vast amount of anthropic pollution, an undeniably eritieal balanee was maintained. Yet with the arrival, in the last few decades, of nearly three billion individuals - Indians, Chinese and others who, quite rightly, expect a high level of consumption, and with the projected swelhng of the world population in years to come, the international community is calhng for sustainable development, so as to be able to estabUsh a new balance, which is truly sustainable. 

Since the early 1980s, consumers seeking environmental-Mendly products and organizations have increasingly become aware of environmental management systems, socially responsible behaviour, sustainable growth and development around the world (Phau and Ong, 2007 Saicheua et al., 2012).
