Workers supervision

To calculate the total hours worked by all employees, include the hours worked by salaried, hourly, part-time and seasonal workers, as well as hours worked by other workers supervised (e.g., workers supplied by a temporary help service). Do not include vacation, sick leave, holidays, or any other non-work time even if employees were paid for it. If the establishment keeps records of only the hours paid or if the employer has employees who are not paid by the hour, the hours that the employees actually worked must be estimated. [Pg.167]

The British Standard also uses the Assigned Protection Eactor, i.e. tlie level of respiratory protection that can realistically be expected to be achieved in the workplace by 95% of adequately trained and supervised workers, using a properly functioning and correctly fitted respiratory protective device (see Table 13.9)... [Pg.433]

The primary intent of supervised field experience is for employees to be observed by the experienced person during the course of their workday to ensure that they are working safely. These 1- or 3-day observation periods allow the experienced person to observe the worker applying proper techniques and to emphasize site-specific hazards and special working conditions. The observation period includes some on-the-job training as a reinforcement of previous training received (see Figure 8-2) [1]. [Pg.99]

One of the most serious stressors to personnel working in many chemical processes is the perception of danger by the workers arising from ineffective control and supervision of these systems. Despite the fact that modem plants are equipped with automated protection systems, there is always some perception of potential risk in their operation. Serious threats can be posed not only for those within the plant, but also for the neighboring public. An environment that is perceived as being highly dangerous will increase the stress experienced by the workers and may have a detrimental effect on their performance. [Pg.109]

Root causes 4 and 5. There had been no supervision of the worker who should close the blender valves after completion of the job. No audit was made to verify that valves were routinely closed. [Pg.315]

Payroll Charges This item includes workers compensation, social security premiums, unemployment taxes, paid vacations, holidays, and some part of health and dental insurance premiums. The figure has steadily declined from 1980 and now is 30 to 40 percent of operating labor plus supervision expenses. [Pg.18]

The example of other health workers in the USA nurse practitioners, physician assistants and optometrists demonstrates that non-medical professionals can be trained to adequately prescribe drugs within their area of expertise. Pilot projects, e.g. in the state of California, with psychologists prescribing psychopharmaceuticals with appropriate training and supervision were successful in that both the patients and supervising physicians were comfortable with the clinical performance of the trainees (De Leon and Wiggins, 1996, p. 226). [Pg.322]

The keyworker role is considered very important with all clients of the services. Once a worker is allocated to a case, they take the main treatment decisions, with supervision provided and in collaboration with the prescribing doctor. In normal circumstances such decisions are not over-ridden in duty worker contacts, and clients are made aware of this. Because the system is adhered to consistently there are relatively few attempts to problematically exploit it, and in general this approach is well accepted. [Pg.112]
