Supervisors must check ladders before use to ensure they are sound. The use of ladders should be monitored regularly, to ensure that operatives are not over-reaching, or using two hands to work. Damaged ladders must be broken up or removed from the workplace immediately. Painted ladders must not be accepted for use - the paint can mask cracks and other faults. Stepladders must be used fully open, with adjustment cords or other similar provisions taut or locked in place.

Tyrocidine studies on mechanism of action (98), biosynthesis on multien2yme complexes (93,99,100), and chemistry (101) are available, and tyrothricin production is discussed (102). Although the mechanism of action of linear gramicidins has been well researched, such work on tyrocidine is more limited it appears that tyrocidine damages membranes (103,104).
