Temporary work

Temporary work is not the answer for everyone. There are a couple of disadvantages that must be taken into account. 

Onerous Tasks Every profession has its mundane tasks that regular staff put off doing. Frequently, these are the jobs that temporaries are brought in to handle. You may find your day filled with boring, repetitive work that presents litde challenge. 

Lack of Benefits You do not participate in the benefits of the companies using your services, and few agencies have developed fringe-benefit packages for their employees. Therefore, temporary workers must provide for their own vacations and insurance needs.

Work zones are often temporary. Many times, onee the work has been eondueted, the zone boundaries ehange and sometimes beeome support zones. Process improvements may be conducted by the completion of a task or a project. A task is an activity that can be completed by the process owner with minimal cost and/or resources over a short period of time. A project is defined as temporary work to provide a product or service that is beyond the process owner s support. In general, a project requires more than one full-time equivalent (FTE), crosses over multiple functional organizations, and the duration of the effort spans over a longer period of time. Improvement status, updates, and issues should be discussed on a regular basis by a management forum or steering committee. Tasks and projects should be prioritized based on the risk against patient safety and efficacy and compliance.

The use of market mechanisms by outsourcing placement services to external providers through placement vouchers or via subsidised temporary work (PSA) has been implemented as a complementary option to improve efficiency and effectiveness of core employment services (Konle-Seidl 2005a). Flow shop companies producing products in high volume use estimates as temporary work standards. It is to be hoped that these temporary standards wiU be replaced as soon as possible with accurate time studies, work sampling, or predetermined time standards.

The software distribution, management and control will generally be built using standard UNIX features and capabilities. UNIX files will be used for the software entities control files and most temporary work files.
