Weekly planner

Now you work on a weekly planner as an important tool for effective time management. You review the actual time spent on each of the following activities in a typical week. [Pg.44]

Every hour added to studying must come from the hours reduced from other activities. It is not advisable to reduce sleep time unless one is spending more than eight hours a day and one s doctor approves of the reduction. In most cases, hours can be relocated to studying from the RR category relatively painlessly. You can now use the same tables as your new weekly planner. [Pg.47]

Plant and equipment that provides a service or is required to operate for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week presents a different proposition to the maintenance programming requirements. For example, a heating pump with a standby, which is required for a heating installation in an office with a set number of working hours from Monday to Friday. Alternative methods of maintenance programming may require the planner to allow for total replacement on plant failure or have available replacement units, so that when an item of plant or equipment fails, it is removed and a replacement installed. [Pg.784]

A personal planner, such as a Day-Timer, costs between 15 and 110, and provides you with places to write down appointments, to-do lists, expenses, and other information. Different formats of personal planners are available, allowing you to view one day, multiple days, a week, or even a month at a time. You can also include an address book in your planner, and keep all your information in one handy place. [Pg.189]

In Albuquerque, Philips engineers and managers grappled with the aftermath of the fire. They realized that cleanup would take at least a week. A few hundred miles away, executives at Ericsson also got a call from Philips. Until this call, Ericsson s planners and managers had not sensed a problem. [Pg.199]

Planners work closely with customers demand planners to align weekly and monthly promotion calendar and market activities. [Pg.123]

A second use of standard times is to estimate the amount of labor that is needed to produce the plant s products. For example, a planner may know that welding a worm gear for a grain elevator takes 90 minutes and that each welder who works 40 hours a week has 36 hours of capacity (allowing for breaks and lunches). The planner can calculate that one welder can produce 24 worm gears a week. So if the production of 240 worm gears a week is necessary, then 10 welders are required. [Pg.58]

A maintenance planner should negotiate the schedule with production planning so that a balanced workload is available each week. [Pg.23]

At the end of each week, spend a few moments just listing what has been achieved. So often we make lists of what needs to be done not what has been done. Be kind to yourself, allocate time to think and plan. Use wall planners to plot key pressure points over the year so you are prepared. In particular ... [Pg.113]

Flexibility strategy—using utilization as the lever This strategy may be used if there is excess machine capacity (i.e., if machines are not used 24 hours a day, seven days a week) and the workforce shows scheduling flexibility. In this case, the workforce (capacity) is kept stable, but the number of hours worked is varied over time in an effort to synchronize production with demand. A planner can use variable amounts of overtime or a flexible schedule to achieve this synchronization. [Pg.213]
