Vulcanization agents, for specialty

A wide variety of vulcanization agents are used in the rubber industry. For specialty elastomers, peroxide cross-linking is probably the most widely used and fastest growing system. The various peroxides available for cross-linking and newer developments in this area will be reviewed. Other vulcanization agents for specialty elastomers will also be presented.

This book defines specialty elastomers as heat-, oil-, fuel-, and solvent-resistant polymers. Pre-vulcanized NR latex concentrate is a specialty latex that can provide small-scale manufacturing operators of latex products the convenience of ready-to-use latex compounds. All the necessary curing agents and accelerators have already been added by the latex supplier and it can be used directly, for example at the dipping plant.
