UTDefect can of course be improved in several ways. The user-friendliness can be increased and this is presently worked on in a project called SUNDT which will give pre- and postprocessors in Windows. Other possible future improvements include the addition of more... 

Both options 2 and 3 are compatible with our long term innovation strategy to further improve ecology as well as speed and user-friendliness of classical industrial radiography. 

It was deemed essential that chemists who might not be computer literate or specially trained should be able to use the interrogation package in a fast, easy and flexible manner to get the precise information needed. The emphasis is on user friendliness, a much over-used term, but here exemplified in the following ways ... 

The ease of access to data, showing a modified graph within 3 seconds of the easily entered requests, does indeed help the chemist to explore the data more inquisitively - something that fully justifies the extra software effort put in to give user friendliness.

Intelligent process control based on platinum temperature sensors and tailored electronics provides an effective method of improving both kitchen safety and the user friendliness of kitchen appliances, and also contributes to reducing energy consumption. 

It is obvious that these commonalties can be tailored to achieve successful contraceptive formulations with varying degrees of efficacy, user friendliness, and aesthetics. U.S. marketed contraceptive products all contain N9 as the spermicide at various concentrations. These products rely only on the mechanism of sperm destruction by the nondiscriminating surfactant effects of the spermicide, as effects of the carrier system on sperm motility are generally minimal. No claim of activity against STDs and HIV are made by current contraceptive products, with the exception of full barrier methods such as condoms. 

The laboratory activity and its services to customers are designed and developed so as to respond effectively and efficiently to the needs and expectations of its customers and interested parties. Factors such as safety and health, testability, usability, user-friendliness, the enviromnent and identified risks should be considered when designing the laboratoiy process. 

There are (at least) two major opportunities for research by those interested in this topic. On the computational side, there is definite room for improvement in simulation methods. Right now none of the simulation approaches has the user friendliness that has brought electronic-structure calculation into the realm of routine applicability by nonspecialists. Nor has the field seen the development of the qualitative or semiquantitative models that did so much to make the results of molecular orbital calculations useful to organic chemists. On the experimental side, it will be obvious to the reader that the techniques for detecting the effects of nonstatistical dynamics are still very rudimentary and indirect. There is clearly room for creative scientists to come up with techniques whose results can give us more direct insight into these issues. 

Chapter 10 briefly addresses future trends as Dr Becker sees them emerging. She looks to higher resolution mass spectrometers for better interference separation, better sensitivity and lower detection limits. With this enhanced analytical power she also predicts increased user friendliness, better isotope ratio measurements, smaller sample sizes, enhanced capability to handle transient signals and further advances in sample introduction. 

User-friendliness With few exceptions, organocatalysts do not suffer from sensitivity to oxidation and hydrolysis. This makes them easy to work with, without the inert atmospheres required for many metal-catalyzed reactions... 

Laboratory investigations play an essential role in medicine. Laboratory results are taken into consideration in about two thirds of all medical decisions in medical systems of industrialized countries today. The vast majority of clinical chemistry analyses are based on few analytical principles including photometry, ligand binding assays and potentiometry. For these standard methods complete automation has been achieved and multi-channel, random access analyzers realize several hundred analyses per instrument and hour on a very high level of user-friendliness. Consequently, clinical chemistry is very cost efficient today typically clinical chemistry analyses contribute less than 5 % of all costs of tertiary care hospitals. 

Proper alignment of the system is of course necessary. Differences in systems from various manufacturers are not so much in the technique itself but more in the user-friendliness of the system. The main fields of CLSM applications in bioengineering concern bacteria growing in soils [16,17], on non-transparent supports such as leaves [18], in biofilms [19-21], in particular for wastewater treatment or biofouling studies [22], and mammalian cells growing on microcarriers [23,24] or in aggregates [25,26]. 

Overall, it seems that PHREEQC, except for the problems with high ionic strengths that require the application of PITZER equations, is the optimal program for the solution of both simple and more complex exercises and for onedimensional transport modehng with regard to user-friendliness, numerical stability, compactness and clarity of the data format as well as flexibility. It will be used for the solution of the exercises in chapter 3. The utilization of PHREEQC is presented in detail in chapter 2.2. 

Perhaps the single most important factor in a BLA s user friendliness is the speed and ease with which a reviewer can find information during the review process. Because it can influence the speed and efficiency of the review as well, the manner in which the applicant indexes BLA information is of central importance. The user-friendliness is enhanced by the context-sensitive help, available in all modes of processing. The help window may be permanently present on the screen (reducing the part of the screen used for draw/display of structures) or it may be called in only when actually needed. When the help window is opened, its contents are updated automatically with the selection of menu and submenu items.
