At the Bagnoli brownfield site, Tarzia et al. (2002) (as part of his PhD program with University of Naples Federico II) carried out a study aimed to discriminate anthropogenic pollution sources from natural pollution sources. For this study, heavy metals and Pb isotope data from soils, waste materials, scum, and slag samples from the brownfield site were used. [Pg.373]

Alessandra Napolitano graduated in chemistry in 1984 at the University of Naples Federico II under the guidance of Prof. G. Prota. In 2001 she was made associate professor of organic chemistry. Her main research interests lie in the field of heterocyclic compounds, with special reference to hydroxyindoles and benzothiazines, oxidative chemistry of phenolic natural products, food chemistry, lipid peroxidation, and analytical chemistry. Currently, she is involved in several research projects dealing with the chemistry of natural pigments, including pheomelanins, and the chemical basis of diseases. [Pg.42]

Alessandro Pezzella received his Ph.D. in 1997 under the direction of Professor G. Prota at the University of Naples Federico II. Since 1999, he holds a permanent position as researcher in the Department of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the University of Naples. He has carried out research mainly in the field of 5,6-dihydroxyindole polymerisation and oxidative behavior of phenolic compounds. More recently, his research interests have concentrated on applications of heterocyclic compounds in materials science. He is the author and co-author of some 30 scientific publications, including reviews and book chapters. [Pg.388]
