Tubing running

Indirect-Heat Rotary Steam-Tube Dryers Probably the most common type of indirec t-heat rotaiy diyer is the steam-tube diyer (Fig. 12-69). Steam-heated tubes running the full length of the cylinder are fastened symmetrically in one, two, or three concentric rows inside the cylinder and rotate with it. Tubes may be simple pipe with condensate draining by gravity into the discharge manifold or bayonet-type. Bayonet-type tubes are also employed when units are used... [Pg.1208]

In the horizontal-tube box heater with side-mounted convection tube bank, the radiant-section tubes run horizontally along the walls and the flat roof of the box-shaped heater, but the convection section is placed in a box of its own beside the radiant sec tion. Firing is horizontal from the end walls. The design of this heater results in a relatively expensive unit justified mainly by its abihty to burn low-grade high-ash fuel oil. Duties are 53 to 210 GJ/h (50 to 200 10 Btu/h). [Pg.2402]

The tubes run cool when operated at capacity. No contaminant gives a line at intensity exceeding 2% of the strongest characteristic line from the target. (2) For reasons given in Chapter 2, the preferred detectors are scintillation and gas-flow proportional counters. (3) The com-... [Pg.253]

The lube oil cooler consists of a hollow shell with several tubes running through it. Cooling water flows inside the shell of the cooler and around the outside of the tubes. Lube oil flows inside the tubes. The water and lube oil never make physical contact. [Pg.120]

Experiment 1.—Dilute a few drops of formaldehyde or acetaldehyde with a few c.c. of water, add a small amount of ammoniacal silver solution, and divide the mixture between two test tubes. Into one test tube run a few drops of sodium hydroxide solution an immediate separation of metallic silver takes place. From the other solution after standing for some time in the cold, or more quickly on warming, the silver separates. Thus the oxidising action of ammoniacal silver solution is very considerably increased by sodium hydroxide (Tollens). Also test the reducing action of the aldehydes on Fehling s solution. [Pg.211]

Fire damage to cable trays can be caused by exposure to flames and heat from spill or pool fires below, falling burning liquids from above, thermal radiation from an adjacent fire, or fire originating among the cables themselves. Cable trays and other grouped cable, wire, and nonmetallic tubing runs should be evaluated to determine the potential for fire exposure where warranted by their size and cost or safety-related importance of their service. [Pg.277]

NFPA15 provides guidance on water spray protection for cable trays and other grouped cable, wire, and nonmetallic tubing runs. These options are summarized in Table 8-10. [Pg.277]

Bundles of miniature candles packed into circular or square boxes are known as cakes for obvious reasons. They are the simplest of fireworks to set up because one merely places them on level ground, on a waterproof sheet if necessary. However, the fuse that connects all of the tubes runs in a spiral inside the base of the box, and the end that terminates on the outside wall of the box can be difficult to locate (especially in the dark) and be rather slow in operation. Some tens of seconds might elapse before the first tube ignites, but do not be tempted to return to the... [Pg.149]

Type 3 Mark 1 Aircraft Mine Model 1 was cylinder 53 inches long and 24 inches diam, provided with a parachute and four chemical horns. It was filled with 240 lbs of Type 98 Explosive.. The detonator and booster were located in a tube running transversely thru the mine case. It was dropped from an aircraft or surface moored (p 42, Figs 11 12)... [Pg.490]

Type 3 Model 2 Aircraft Mine Model 2 was an aircraft-laid drifting mine similar in appearance to fin-tailed bomb, 6 ft long and 14 inches in. diam. It was filled with 123 lbs of Type 98 Expl cast in the spherical nose. The detonator and booster were housed in a transverse tube running thru the bomb, while further aft was... [Pg.490]

Accdg to Ref 1, the Japanese cylindrical charges were equipped with a device called pistol to detonate the chge at a definite depth- The pistol was housed in a central tube running along the axis of the cylindrical body. [Pg.509]

Pressure can be measured with many different types of devices. A common instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure is called the barometer. A simple barometer consists of a tube closed at one end and open at the other. The tube is filled with a high density liquid such as mercury and inverted in a larger reservoir of mercury which is open to the atmosphere. This geometry will result in a vacuum at the top of the glass tube as the mercury inside the tube runs downward, out of the tube and into the reservoir of mercury (Figure 3.2). [Pg.71]

In tubular reactors, heat is removed either by providing cooling tubes running parallel inside the reactor, or through external heat exchangers. Radial temperature gradients are normally observed in tubular reactors. In the case of exothermic reactions the temperature is maximum at the center of the tube and minimum at the tube wall. Similarly, in the case of endothermic reactions the temperature is minimum at the center of the tube and maximum at the tube wall. For highly exothermic reactions, packed bed reactors are usually avoided. [Pg.42]
