Shipment and Storage, Specifications. A/-Vinyl-2-pyrrohdinone is available in tank cars and tank trailers and in dmms of various sizes. Shipping containers are normally steel or stainless steel. Tank cars are provided with heating coils to facihtate unloading in cold weather. Rubber, epoxy, and epoxy—phenohc coatings are attacked and must be avoided. Carbon steel has been successfully used for storage tanks, but stainless steel preserves product quahty better. Aluminum and certain phenohc coatings are also satisfactory.

In the case of tanker trucks and railcar-mounted tanks, linings and corrosion allowances for internal corrosion are used. In the case of transportation of corrosive materials corrosion-resistant alloys are used. In extreme cases, rubber bladder tanks have been used on flat-bed trailers or railcars. External corrosion is controlled with coatings and designs that minimize crevices. One possible solution to minimize crevice corrosion is by placing a horizontal tank with a circular cross-section on legs, thus avoiding direct contact with other surfaces. 

Trailers. Trailer chassis are generally coated in the same way as truck chassis but with a two-coat system. The primer is either a one-pack alkyd paint or a two-pack epoxy paint that are cured at ambient temperature with amine adducts or isocyanates. 

E-coat is used in thousands of everyday products. One of the major users is the automotive industry where the vast majority of car bodies are primed using this process. The electrocoat primer is what protects your car from msting and allows for the extended corrosion warranties available today. Other uses in the automotive industry include steering gear parts, engine blocks, seat components, radiators, mirror brackets and trailers. 

The driver s experience will prove to be vital during tipping into the hopper of the paver to ensure regular feeding and to prevent asphalt segregation. To facilitate asphalt unloading, the inside of the trailer may be coated with an approved release agent or a small filler amount. The use of diesel or kerosene is not recommended, since it may affect the properties of the hot asphalt. 

However, local problems do occur. A manufacturer of polished highway trailers made of 5454-H34 sheet incurred dark-brown staining from rainfall on trailers stored outdoors at one plant location, but not at a different plant location. Waxing the trailers or coating them with a silicone-based hydrophobic solution was necessary to prevent this staining. 

PVC Pressure-Sensitive Tapes. Formulated PVC plastisols are used in automotive applications. A pressure-sensitive adhesive-coated closed-cell PVC tape has replaced butyl glazing tape in some glazing applications. Other applications include automotive, trucks and trailers, mobile homes, steel building erection, metal door gasketing, and sound deadening. Both single-face and double-face tapes are available in various thicknesses, widths, and densities. The pressure-sensitive adhesive is believed to be of the acrylic type.
