Toxicology future

In the future, the preventive tole of toxicology will be emphasized. It will be increasingly important to develop early indicators to monitor longterm subtle exposures that predict deleterious effects that are known to have a causal relationship with occupational exposures. Although there is considerable activity in developing computational toxicology for regulatory applications, the reality for the foreseeable future is that QSARs and related techniques are not yet sophisticated enough to replace whole animal testing.

The toxicological "facts" I have used goes beyond present validated knowledge and thus indicates directions that future work might take to produce the data that can actually be used in a computer fire model. 

The in vitro and in vivo antibacterial evaluations of these compounds revealed that the active compounds are those that correspond to structure 106, with the 3-pyridyl analogue being the most active. Unfortunately, the 30-day toxicological evaluation of this compound in mice demonstrated severe toxicity, and therefore further development of this compound was halted. Compound 103 (PNU-86093), although weaker than Dup-721, has a promising toxicological profile and is considered as a lead compound for future studies [51]. 

Since 1995 some new types of pyrethroids with high insecticidal potency have been developed for practical use. For this reason we decided to publish a volume written by experts in various fields to review the development of new pyrethroids and offer future perspectives. This volume includes chapters on the progress and the future of pyrethroids, the biosynthesis of natural pyrethrins, newly developed polyfluorobenzyl-type pyrethroids with potent insecticidal activity, the mode of action, mammal toxicology, biotransformation and enzymatic reactions, environmental behavior, and ecotoxicology of pyrethroids. We hope that this book will contribute greatly to the further development of pyrethroids. 

FUTURE ISSUES IN OCCUPATIONAL TOXICOLOGY IN THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY... 

The future of in vitro techniques in toxicological assessment takes us back to our introductory discussion of the philosophical and scientific considerations operating in the evolution of alternative methods. 

If the CCFAC agrees with the proposal, the additive is included on a future JECFA agenda. Prior to the next JECFA meeting, a call for data is published, and any item put forward for inclusion will be in that data call, requesting all available toxicological, specification and consumption data.
