Toxicology and Environmental Health Information

ToxSeek is an NLM metasearch engine and clustering tool that enables the simultaneous searching of many different toxicology and environmental health information databases and web sites. This tool includes 59 databases including the TOXNET Search tool, as well as information sources from NLM, NIH, US Government, International and other sources. [Pg.311]

Toxicology and Environmental Health Information (TOXNET) Databases covering toxicology and environmental health http yysis.nlm.nih.gov/ToVToxMain.html... [Pg.52]

SIS s Toxicology and Environmental Health Information Program (TEHIP) produces TOXNET (TOXNET 2007), a collection of toxicology and environmental health databases that includes, among others, the Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB), a database of potentially hazardous chemicals, TOXLINE (containing references to the world s toxicology literature), and ChemIDplus (a chemical dictionary and structure database). [Pg.75]

Some SIS products help to address the toxicology and environmental health information needs of the general public. One such resource is ToxTown, an interactive guide to toxic chemicals and environmental health issues in everyday locations. It is a companion to the extensive information in the TOXNET collection of databases. The Household Products Database is a consumer s guide that provides information on the potential health effects of chemicals contained in more than 5000 common household products used inside and around the home. This database allows consumers, scientists, and health professionals to investigate ingredients in brand-name products. [Pg.75]

The information on the lethal activities of the members of this group of esters Is sparse. Even when reports dealing with lethality according to their titles were furnished by the Board on Toxicology and Environmental Health Hazards, the texts provided were brief and uninformative. An example Is a report (233) entitled A Review of the Pharmacology and Toxicology of CAR 301,060. This compound Is the ester of phenylcyclopentylglycollc acid and 2-methyl-3-qulnuclldlnol. [Pg.200]

TOXNET http //toxnet.nlm.nih.gov User-friendly Web site that allows searching of a cluster of bibliographic and factual databases with information on toxicology and environmental health. Includes the Hazardous Substances Databank (HSDB), with detailed information about 4500 chemicals, and TOXLINE, containing >3 million citations to journal articles and technical reports. [Pg.582]

DHMT offers specialized information covering medical toxicology and environmental health. It uses the resources of the Department of Health library in London. The DHMT database specializes in medical toxicology and environmental health. It includes more stricdy scientific and medical information in these subject areas than other wider ranging databases maintained by the Department of Health. DHMT covers the following areas ... [Pg.340]

Corporations have responded to the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) by traditional means such as added personnel and facilities as well as by new and innovative initiatives such as new management functions, new expertise in toxicology, and new computerized information systems. The size of a corporation as measured by annual sales is the most important determiner of how an organization responds to TSCA s new demands large corporations generally add new personnel and facilities while smaller corporations tend to add TSCA requirements to existing jobs. None of these responses can be ascribed to TSCA alone since corporations are responding to a myriad of environmental/health laws with similar demands. [Pg.121]

Pollution and Toxicology (POLTOX). This CD-ROM library also focuses our attention on environmental health and safety concerns. Scientists working in any industry or capacity that deals with toxic or potentially toxic chemicals will find it very useful. It allows one access to seven major data bases in this field in a single search through its use of linking features in its software. The distributors of this product have provided us with a spectrum of information dealing with toxic substances and environmental health. [Pg.107]

The World Library is envisioned as a Web portal to international information resources in the areas of toxicology, chemical safety, and environmental health. It will be hosted by TEHIP and maintained... [Pg.2939]
