Torque test

Perform the torque test on different bottle sizes and check the capping on each product as per SOP.

But do not overlook the fact that standard tests use standard test pieces and cannot compare as an assessment of suitability with the testing of the actual bonded components themselves. A classic illustration is the torque testing (DTD 5628 Method D) of anaerobic adhesives compared to the actual vibration testing of locked threaded fasteners (see Sections 2.3.2 and 3.6). The former test gives a strength ranking - needed for design and quality control - while the latter shows quite clearly that all these adhesives resist severe vibration - their raison d etre. The two are not comparable but are often confused. 

The new spring was evaluated by subjecting it to the standard performance requirements of the Rediffusion specification. This specification contains a large number of performance requirements and test procedures, covering the various components and the functioning of the assembled switch. The items which are of particular relevance to the indexing spring are a life test which tests its durability, and a torque test which ensures that the action of the switch is not too stiff. 

Thus, in addition to performing efficiently as gears, the PBT gears provided excellent frictional properties, with an inherent lubricity contributing to long-term wear resistance. Torque tests conducted on these gears in operation performed at levels ten times in excess of the normal operating values. In the next chapter we shall see how plastics and composites can be made to hold up well under environmental stresses.

The disadvantages of this method ate the need for a torque meter, longer total length of the pumping unit, and greater susceptibiUty to misalignment and vibrations. This method is used only at a manufacturer s test faciUties or research laboratories. It is not used in the field. 

If the pump manufacturer uses motors for pump power measurement, these motors ate caUbrated to determine the horsepower from the electric power reading and caUbration curves. Such test motors ate recaUbrated periodically, ensuring the same degree of accuracy as shown by the torque meters. 

The Nametre Rotary B rotational viscometer measures torque in terms of the current needed to drive the d-c motor at a given speed while a material is under test. The standard sensors are coaxial cylinders or Brookfield disk-type spindles, but a cone—plate system is also available. The viscosity range for the coaxial cylinder sensors is 5 to 5 x 1(T mPa-s, and the maximum shear rate is 200. ... 

Strength is measured in the laboratory with tests of stretch, compression, and torque in both uncured and cured compounds. 

A significant revision to the SMR scheme was introduced in 1991 in response to consumer desire for greater consistency in natural mbber (13). Other producing countries have similar specification schemes (14), as does the International Standards Organization (ISO) (15). An example of the specifications for TSR is given in Table 1 for the present Standard Malaysian scheme. Except for SMR 5, rheograph and cure test data (delta torque, optimum cure time, and scorch) are provided. 

Glass or plastic bottles that have plastic or aluminum closures are tested for removal torque. The removal torque represents the force required to remove the closure from the bottle. Closures are also evaluated to ensure that they have been properly appHed and that they are tamper evident. Crown closures are also evaluated to ensure proper appHcation. 

To determine the starting current, when the test is conducted at a reduced voltage (l/ /3Vr). allowance must be made for the saturation effect while estimating the value of /s, at the rated voltage. See also Section 1.6.2(A) also (the important note on starting torque).

It is therefore necessary to take precautions during the test to avoid a excessive temperature rise and consequent damage to the windings. For wound rotor motors, speed-torque and speed-current tests may be taken between synchronous speed and the speed at which the maximum torque occurs. 

When the torque is determined by the above method, the voltage during the test should be so adjusted that the locked rotor current is approximately equal to the full load current. After the locked rotor test, the resistance of the stator windings should be measured and may also be considered for calculating the I R losses.
