Tool changer

Carousel—rotary tool holder used to hold many tools as part of an automatic tool changer on a CNC mill. [Pg.184]

Most often, the sheet-metal-fabricating industry thinks of a full-scale CNC punch press as one having the capability to move a work sheet, select tools, cycle a ram, and carry out a variety of ancillary functions while creating piece parts automatically. These machines typically employ turrets or tool changers to hold a variety of tools while presenting selected punches and dies to the ram to perform useful work. [Pg.496]

The consequence of the machinery, which is necessary to produce molds, is very high investment costs. Continuous improvement of these machines also requires a constant improvement of the machinery within short amortization periods. Due to this requirement, it is necessary to keep the machine in operation 24-hours a day. Therefore, these machines run in multiple shifts and in unattended operations, such as on weekends and holidays. These unattended operations require technical conditions on the machines, e.g., tool changer and cutting edge corrections. Machine monitoring can be done via camera. The operator can then visually assess the current state of processing from home through a PC and respond quickly to disturbances. [Pg.509]

CNC systems control the moving units of a machine tool. The moving units are classified under feed and spindle drives, and auxiliary components such as tool and pallet changers, coolant pumps, and chip conveyors. Feed and spindle drives require smooth position, speed, and... [Pg.249]

Since early 1990s, hundreds of surgical robotic tools have been developed by research groups around the world. Of those, a handfial are considered game-changers and have made it to the market. Despite their number, from... [Pg.93]
