Cutting edge corrections

The consequence of the machinery, which is necessary to produce molds, is very high investment costs. Continuous improvement of these machines also requires a constant improvement of the machinery within short amortization periods. Due to this requirement, it is necessary to keep the machine in operation 24-hours a day. Therefore, these machines run in multiple shifts and in unattended operations, such as on weekends and holidays. These unattended operations require technical conditions on the machines, e.g., tool changer and cutting edge corrections. Machine monitoring can be done via camera. The operator can then visually assess the current state of processing from home through a PC and respond quickly to disturbances. 

If a hacksaw is used, extend the length of the mount pins and install five blades on the frame. This should cut the correct width slot in one pass. The majority of all diamond sawing of concrete is carried out with use of water as a coolant. A small hole, to suit the pilot, is drilled at the centre of the required position. This may require a number of trials and adjustments before the correct size is reached. The pilot is located in the pilot hole and, as the tool rotates, it is fed through the work. Fig. 8.17(b). 

Before drilling, check if the drill is the correct size. Because you remove it from a space marked 5 mm does not mean it is a 5 mm drill -the person who used it before you may not have returned it to the correct space. Also, check the condition of the cutting edges and if necessary resharpen them. 

A properly sharpened drill run at the correct speed will produce a spiral type of chip from each cutting edge. As the hole becomes deeper, the chips tend to pack in the flutes and the drill may have to be removed from the hole periodically to clear the chips. 

Make sure safety limit stops are present and in the correct position. Always Isolate the machine when changing the chuck, arbor or cutter. Do handle milling cutters carefully, as the cutting edges are very sharp. 

If the end of a cutting tool is ground parallel to the workpiece as shown in Fig. 7.4(a), the tool will skid along the work surface. If the back of the tool, or heel, is ground below the level of the cutting edge, it will rub on the work surface as shown in Fig. 7.4(b). The correct angle is shown... 

More usually referred to as a face mill, this cutter is used to face large surfaces. The cutter consists of a tough steel body with high-speed-steel or tungsten-carbide cutting edges in the form of inserts clamped in their correct position. Fig. 11.8(n). This construction results in a cheaper cutter than would be the case if the complete cutter were made from an expensive cutting-tool material - it also facilitates the replacement... 

But helium mixtures are also used for many kinds of cutting-edge laser technologies. The correct composition of the gas mixtures creates the basis for increased quality and productivity also in laser welding.
