It is often a requirement for industrial fabrications that once complete they are dried. The reason for this are as diverse as the applications it is used for but typical applications for drying include electrieal transformers, gas and liquid pipelines, thermal insulation and cryogenic applications. Drying through the application of vacuum allied with energy input is often the only solution. Drying with vacuum is... [Pg.147]

One of the oldest, simplest, and most efficient methods for removing solid particulate contaminants from gas streams is by filtration through fabric media. The fabric filter is capable of providing high collection efficiencies for particles as small as 0.5 pm and will remove a substantial quantity of particles as small as 0.01 pm. In its simplest form, the industrial fabric filter consists of a woven or felted fabric through which dust-laden gases are forced. A combination of factors results in the collection of particles on the fabric filters. When woven fabrics arc used, a dust cake eventually forms. This, in turn, acts predominantly as a sieving mechanism. When felted fabrics are used, the dust cake is minimal or nonc.xistent. [Pg.150]

The types of products that contain PET fibers will expand, especially in areas such as nonwoven fabrics used for disposable items, e.g. industrial fabrics for diapers, disposable wipes, filters, etc. These are products that do not require much hand labor, and are relatively well protected from low labor costs in developing countries. Bicomponent fibers based on PET will become more prevalent as the production technology becomes more widespread, in areas where the bico approach can enhance properties or economics. [Pg.432]

The resultant fabrics are unique in that they have many functional property improvements thermal adaptability due to the phase change nature of the bound polyol, durable press or resiliency, soil release, reduction of static charge, antimicrobial activity, enhanced hydrophilicity and improved flex life, and resistance to pilling. Because of the different molecular weights of polyols, resins, acid catalysts, and fabric constructions, there are numerous modified fabrics that can be produced with sets of improved attributes. Each fabric must be carefully evaluated for optimum curing conditions and formulations to produce the desired product. Several licenses have been granted for this process. Various types of apparel, healthcare items, and industrial fabrics are currently evaluated for commercial production [381,382]. [Pg.93]

Resistance to water and oil borne stains is a highly desirable feature to many textile uses including outerwear, home furnishings and industrial fabrics. SEQUAPEL WOR provides excellent water and oil repellency that is durable to washing and dry cleaning. [Pg.554]

Polyethylene and polypropylene fibres are both used as fibre-forming for textile purposes. They are widely used in industrial fabrics. These two fibres can be bonded into non-woven fabric form and used as the base for tufted carpeting. Olefin fibres are relatively low in cost, but both the fibres have low melting points, low glass-transition temperatures and poor dyeability. [Pg.37]

The industrial fabrication of electronic devices containing perovskite-type metal oxides traditionally involves the preparation of powdered materials which are then cast as required. However, there is great interest at the research level in developing techniques for thin film deposition and in this section we consider the use of CVD methods. [Pg.824]
